Open Job: Beth Haven (Basketball Program Shelved)

Featured Replies

With Coach Stinnett departing to take the boys head coaching job at Fairdale, that leaves Beth Haven looking for a new head coach.

Beth Haven still shows Coach Stinnett as head coach on the KHSAA Scoreboard. Obviously that isn't the case with Stinnett having moved on and coaching at Fairdale.

Have the Bearcats made their new hire with basketball season only a month away? Or have they possibly shelved their basketball team for the time being?

Jason Frakes today confirmed that Beth Haven will not field a Varsity team this season.

The entire team from last season is at Fairdale.

Has the KHSAA approved that?

Only three of the players from Beth Haven are at Fairdale. There is only 8 kids in whole school there. There is no girls sports. Let's not act like this is due to coach Stinnett going to Fairdale as there are lots of factors here.

8 kids total? How is the school open?

It’s a K-12 private school that has about 125 total students.  In 9th-12th grade, they have about 35 total students.  The school does continue to shrink.  I think about 4 or 5 years ago, they had about 180 students in K-12.

Man, they were 63-28 the past 3 seasons.  That's not the record of a program that you would expect to shut down.
