2024 Ryle Raiders

Cooper is 3-14 vs. Ryle winning in 2012, 2014, and 2015. The only year they played twice was in 2016, with Ryle winning 49-42 and 49-20.

I was curious what the record was. Should be a good match up this year.

Ryle needs to find another RB so Savage can play linebacker. He played both ways most of the season.

That would be nice, but I'm sure Savage will continue to get reps on offense. He's fun to watch.

Ryle returns several good football players.

DE Smith 6'4 250  committed to UL

RB/LB Savage 6'2 215 4 year starter has EKU offer

WR/DB Lorms

WR/DB Lyons

WR/DB Lee

I think Nate Verax, Logan's younger brother and the new QB is a big key to Ryle's success. He's a junior but he's been playing regularly on defense. He started at cornerback as a sophomore and had three picks. Nate's arms and legs are similar to Logan. Nate is pretty fast running the 100 in 11.22 and the 40 in 4.52. With all the experienced linemen and receivers the new Verax could be a breakout player at QB this year. Logan's first year starting as a soph he had 2395 passing yards and 18 touchdowns and 8 picks and 327 yards rushing. I think you could reasonably say that's Nate's floor as a junior.

Agreed. I think Nate has a higher ceiling than his brother, even though his career stats won’t beat his brothers. Since Logan started for three years, and Nate only gets to start at QB for two. Nate is a very good QB and would have started for most NKY schools last year as a sophomore. I think he will be the third best QB in NKY this year behind O’Hara for Cooper and Hayden for Beechwood.

I'm also very interested to see how Nate does this year.  I agree that he seems to have a high ceiling.

On a side note, is Logan playing college ball anywhere?  I may have missed that.

I would put Lee from SK and Gregg from Dixie in the top 5 qbs.

I just chatted up someone very familiar with the talent at Ryle and he told me this year and next year are their years.  There was no arrogance, just that talent wise this year and next year should be good ones for the Raiders.

I don’t disagree with the assessment on Ryle’s talent this season but the truth is they have had lots of talent over the last few years.  Every year I read the same thing that this is going to be their year but every year they seem to fall short.  Who knows maybe this is their year and I hope it is.  Nothing would make me happier than to see lots of NKY teams in Lexington in December.  Go Raiders!

Logan is playing at Thomas More Univ.

Jacob Savage is listed by the Cincinnati Enquirer as one of the Top 10 linebackers in Greater Cincinnati going into the 2024 football season. Savage led Ryle's defense in tackles in solo tackles as a freshman in 2022 with 43 solo tackles (plus 50 assisted tackles) and led the defense again in 2023 as a sophomore with 66 solo tackles (plus 97 assisted tackles).

The Enquirer also has Landon Lorms ranked in the Top 10 receivers in Greater Cincinnati headed into the football season. Last year as a junior Lorms set the NKAC's single-season record for receptions with 91 catches, good for 1,013 yards and 13 touchdowns. His 91 catches also puts him at #10 in the KHSAA's record book for single-season receptions.

They definitely should be very good these next two years. Part of that reason will be because of Nate Verax at QB. Even though this is his first year starting, he is a stud. I truly think he will be the third best QB in NKY this year behind O’Hara and Hayden. I think many others well quickly see how good he is too once the season starts.
