Hendo had a pretty disappointing season last year. They had a 4-6 regular season against the same schedule, and were 1-1 in the playoffs, losing by 15 to McCracken County, who they had beaten by 28 during the regular season.

Their dual QB look last season with Max Thompson and Trajdon Davis could have been a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it. But this year with Thompson graduating, they will be looking to senior Davis for the QB leadership. Davis also had almost 500 yards rushing last year, plus the offense returns senior RB Anthony Burrus, who had over 1000 yards last season. Burrus accounted for one-third the team's total touchdowns last year (16 of 52). The offense will have to find answers in the receiving corps this season after graduating Jackson Pendergraft and Koien Banks, who accounted for over half of the team's 2141 yards receiving, and another third of their touchdowns, between the two.

On defense, linebacker Jack Ryan Reusch will return as a junior, and as their top tackler from the 2023 season. Senior Andrew O'Nan and junior Myron Wright will also be returning to the D-line, and as the team's #3 and #4 tacklers from 2023, respectively. LB Jaxson Wallace, DB Anthony Burrus, DB Luke Humphrey, and LB James Murphy are all going to be back as significant contributors on defense from last season, as well.

While I don't necessarily disagree with you CWB, of the teams Hendo lost to besides the playoff game vs McCracken County I don't look for them to win those games against the teams they lost to with their teams last season with the exception of Central Hardin, which was at Central Hardin and they lost by 1 point.  Not sure how much higher the ceiling should be.  For that win over Hendo, McCracken County got an all expenses covered trip to St Matthews to play Trinity (T 45 - MC 0).  So, while I'd like to expect more from Hendo and McCracken, is that really feasible at this point?  Honest question.

Henderson County will be better this season, now whether it reflects on the schedule is the issue. Last year's team only had four or five returning starters, and one of those was the kicker.

Like you guys referenced earlier, finding more than one more regular season win will be a tall order. All the "power teams" the Colonels lost to last year, with the possible exception of Mayfield (who will still be REALLY good), are going to be better this season.

I live just a few blocks from Steele, and have seen Atwell throwing to his receivers......YIKES!!

I like most of this and certainly understand.  But the Sports equipment has me scratching my head a bit.

So a kid can't come with his parents and bring a football and pass it around with his friends at the game?

I don't know about you but I did this back in the day and see it at pretty much every venue I go to.

I don't understand that one.  Maybe I'm old.

I'm with you on that.  Seems to be the opposite direction of other schools (I.E. putting in the endzone fields for the kids to play).

I've seen this kid at many track meets and if he gets any crease or space on football field he will be off to the races.

He played for Owensboro all though middle school - not sure what prompted the move to Hendo.

I just looked at Henderson County's roster and he isn't listed.

The sports equipment part jumped out to me too.  With that said, I don't know what the football field/complex looks like and how much space there is but if there is plenty of extra space I don't like this one at all.
