HDE, I bet you hate the 54th district then huh ?

I think we've been through that one before.

Leslie County is to blame for that situation, from what I hear.

Just to point out for the umpteenth time. The KHSAA is made up of the HS's. The proposal to seed could come from ANY HS in the state. And yet, none has done so.

It is not a commissioner's call nor a board of control's call. Any of you could talk to the AD or Principal of your school to sponsor a proposal at the delegate assembly come next October.

My first time seeing you bring this up, so bear with me. The KHSAA is the state's governing body of high school sports. The KHSAA regulates and enforces the by-laws concerning Kentucky high school athletics. The KHSAA put district seeding back into the laps of each district several years ago (a totally political move). As the governing body of high school athletics, it's time for the KHSAA to fix this mistake.

I agree that it should be done by seeding. It should come down to what has happened over the season with all of the hard work by those teams. Not by just getting "lucky" at the end of season and getting in. That basically tells those kids, Hey don't worry about the season, we still have a chance at the end!! It should reflect the whole season of play.

The team that gets screwed in this whole thing is Madison Southern. 99% of the time they will beat Berea or Model, but they always draw Madison Central, and get sent home in the first round of districts.

The blind draw in this district is really embarassing once the regional tournament rolls around. One team, Madison Central, competes for regional titles, while Berea or Model get steam rolled by Scott County or Lexington Catholic.

I don't see how it's sickening. The money is used for the student athletes. It's used to buy equipment and all sorts of things to make athletes at smaller schools have the same oppurtunities as athletes at larger schools. Why punish kids at smaller schools for not living in a district where boosters and alumni throw countless dollars in to athletic programs. I definately see your argument but you have never been in a situation where you rely on things like going to the region to help you provide for your student body. While that money might not scratch the surface at a large school it can really be beneficial to a school in need.

Big schools have financial problems as well as small ones. If the money made from a regional tourney where a "small" school gets slaughtered is enough to "rely" on to provide for your student body, then the school either needs to close it's doors or suck it up and find/raise the funding needed. If a school is in such a shape that they vote to draw their district in order to provide for their students...They've got much bigger problems.

Wrong!!! MS is mad because they beat Berea by 49 and will beat Model to death next week and they dont get a shot to represent themselves in the region. How about haveing some seniors who have never lost to Berea or Model yet dont get to go! When Berea and Models combined recored is like 5-34 and they get to go play Scott Co. That is unfair because Scott would have the bye while Tates Creek, so to speak would have a battle on their hands. Its not fair to MS who plays a good schedule works hard in the summers just to have their fate sealed by a freakin pill!!! I would hate to be Model next Friday.

I agree that isn't fair but the first time MS played Model this year it was a 10 to 12 point game throughout. I wouldn't doubt that MS will try to run one up on Model, if they can, because they will not budge in their stance about seeding............ I'd probably do the same.

You're right. Poor, poor County school. Let's get rid of them interlopers. They're all COWARDS anyway! How dare they want at least a CHANCE to get to the regional tournament. Why they're taking away a privilege that the mighty large county schools should own!! Just like those nasty privates!! Kick'em all out! And while we're at it, kick mout the iondependents too. that'll get rid of 90% of the small school whiners anyway.

Regional - Blind Draw with some exceptions

State - Blind Draw

I can see where you'd find the draw for districts "unfair."

We want to keep the state tournament as is, but disagree with ANY possibilities that a small "unworthy" school might make a run or pull off a miracle. From this thread one might think that only the large county schools should have the "right" to play for the championship. We small school, "cowards" have been putting up with sometimes 5, 6, 7 to 1 enrollment issues since the inception of the tournament. Is that fair? Does that apparently even matter? Fair is like beauty, strictly in the eye of the beholder.

Actually MS was up 27 on Model with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd.

Berea and Model have an All A region to compete in, theres their money for a regional tourney.

They still control their destiny. Beat Madison Central.

Yeah thats real deserving for MS win 16 or more games Berea and Model barely win their intrasquad scrimmages and they get to go! Feel bad for the seniors at MS who have NEVER lost to either school.

Lets just draw for the NCAA tourney as well who cares what you did in the regular season. And also lets just draw to see who goes to the BCS games in football, we dont want to hurt teams feelings, they must have a chance even though they dont deserve to go. And one more I like the Reds so lets give them a shot at going to the playoffs, lets flip a coin and let them and St Louis decide it by coinflip.

If regular season games dont count then drop them Southern

I understand your frustration totally. But as long as they draw you have to beat whoever is put in front of you.

Agreed!I'm from another district in the state that resembles the 44th very much.We have two large schools and two small class A schools. We also have a blind draw.I am associated with one of the the small schools and even though the blind draw might benefit us most years I would much rather seed.It is sickening to hear schools proclaim that they hope to draw someone as opposed to beating someone.

I am for a seeded district only if all teams in the district play each other home and away. The old 48th used to seed, but teams only played once, they did not play home and away. Some years a team had an advantage based on their schedule which also wasn't right.

This is a definite and this may be a reason that more districts don't seed. Some teams don't like having to play 6 games within the district.
