Austin Dillon entered Sunday's race 32nd in the standings.

He left Richmond with a spot in the NASCAR Playoffs.

NEWS: Austin Dillon's win at Richmond Raceway will not count toward #NASCARPlayoffs eligibility in both the driver and owner championships. NASCAR states that Dillon violated its playoff eligibility rule and loses benefits of the win.

Dillon and the No. 3 team have also been penalized 25 driver and owner points but remain Sunday’s official race winner.

Additionally, No. 3 spotter Brandon Benesch has been suspended for three races for his actions Sunday at Richmond.

All I will say is NASCAR is inconsistent when it comes to drivers intentionally wrecking other drivers.  

If I have this right, Dillion went from being in the playoffs to 31st.  Only the top 16 make the playoffs.

They seem to be this way with a lot of their Tuesday/Wednesday "penalties".

I think they have backed themselves into a corner with this ruling.  Also seems odd that the 2 drivers who seem to do this the most to win races, were the 2 that got taken out.

 

Just when NASCAR had a chance to pull some casual fans back in to see what happens this week, they drop this ruling.

Was it dirty, sure. Was it the kind of move that built the sport, absolutely. I'm not advocating no holds barred racing, but NASCAR should have let this ride. 

If I was NASCAR, I'd have let it go. Then, had someone get in Logano's ear all week saying, "You going take that?" I'd then just stand back and let them knock each other's doors off next week.

Especially with Daytona, Darlington, Atlanta, Bristol & Talladega looming.

On Dillon at Richmond, I was okay with it all up to the point he took Hamlin out too, in my opinion that was over the line and NASCAR was forced to penalize Dillon. 

Tyler Reddick won at Michigan when the race was finished on Monday afternoon.  I like those Monday races!

Daytona is up this week, then Darlington, then the Round of 16 in the playoffs so these last two weeks could be wild for the win and in crowd.

There were some nasty crashes and Harrison Burton came out on top to punch his ticket to the playoffs.

After Austin Dillon got screwed by NASCAR I am done with NASCAR.  I won't watch it ever again Denny and Joey are cry babies thry have wrecked plenty of people.

Again I think wrecking Joey was fair play, but then immediately taking Hamlin out was overboard.  I think it was either punish Dillon or NASCAR would be crash derby from here on out.

Chase Briscoe — Snapped a 93-race winless streak and gave Stewart-Haas Racing its first Cup victory in two years with his Southern 500 win. He was strong all night.

Chris Buescher moved Shane van Gisbergen to win at Watkins Glen.

Ross Chastain won at Kansas.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. won at Talladega.
Kyle Larson won again at the Charlotte Roval.
Joey Logano won at Las Vegas putting him in the championship four.

Tyler Reddick took a big chance and got lucky, he wins at Miami advancing to the final four along with Joey Logano. 

Watching the end of the race at Martinsville to see makes the final 4 at Phoenix is with controversy at who will be the last car in. Byron was in place and 2 chevy drivers behind him keeping people from passing him. The Bell needed to pass one car to secure a place in the final 4 and it looked like fellow Toyota driver Bubba Wallace slowed up to let Bell pass then he gunned it against the wall like Chastaine did in 2022 which NASCAR has banned from doing. So everyone is waiting for the ruling. Just wild!
