Trinity Christian's facilities are worse than Burgin's and that is saying something.  Really neither place should host any post season tourney.

There will be no disparaging of the beautiful Jack Coleman Gymnasium at Burgin High School on this forum, sir! ?

Honestly, it does surprise me that they host the district tournament (All A and holiday tournaments are a different matter).

Yeah, I am surprised they let Burgin keep doing it. Burgin had district tournament last year as well as the All A this season and they have their annual holiday tournament. It actually is quite impressive to me that they pull it all off.

I think at this point I have been to every gym in the region with the exceptions of DCA, KSD, Somerset Christian, Garrard County and Trinity Christian.

KSD and Somerset Christian both have pretty good facilities!  And, Garrard has a nice gym as well.

I love Burgin.  But for District Championship there is no where to park and 3 rows of bleachers.  Really hurts the crowd and amount of people that can attend.

If the new player for DCA is as good as the fans are saying from last nights game, then I believe the region became DCA’s to lose. Not always the best team wins. But I believe we now have one clear front runner.

What a difference maker he’s going to be. I was very impressed with him in somewhat limited minutes and without him really factoring into their offense. When he is playing 26-28 minutes, look out!

Once they integrate him into the lineup, they’re now a clear favorite.

Clear favorite for sure.

Went to Somerset Christian for the first time earlier this year. Not sure what I was expecting, but their gym far exceeded my expectations. It was very nice and certainly capable of hosting a district tournament.

Don’t know that I’m ready to just hand it to them yet. With him(and he has been practicing with them for a year) Boyle was in the game and had a chance right up to the end. I think Wayne has enough to give them trouble as they shoot the ball so well from 3 and have size and strength with Dumphord and Farmer that should be able to hold them off the boards some. They play next week so we will see. Mercer probably has enough size to battle with their bigs as well. Perry and Ellis are both 6’6” and are pretty strong with Ellis being a skilled finisher around the rim as well as both being able to step out and hit 3 point shots. Southwestern even has size. Nobody has their size and length but teams have physicality that I don’t know DCA has.

They hosted last year's All A and the 48th district tourney.  It's plenty spacious.

I personally think you have to spread them, and be able to make 10-12 3's to beat them, which is doable for a few teams in the region.  You're just not going to score in the paint against that length.  I think the way the game is officiated is critical too.  If they're allowed to bump and hold out front it will make it extremely difficult.  Their defense is legit with their size and athleticism.  But, I do think you're onto something about Wayne Co...  The 2nd Big impressed me with his debut last night.  He played well out on the floor, and appears to be a prototypical stretch 4 at the college level.

It's hard for me to get on the Wayne Co train with looking at how Boyle beat them by 16 and Harlan Independent beat them by 5. They've also been in two close games back to back with Knox Central and Middlesboro and only beat them by 4 and 5. Knox is a 6-10th team in the 13th and Middlesboro isn't a top 10 team in the 13th.

I agree, but we're also dealing with teenagers.  Every team in the 12th outside of DCA (and even them Garrard played close last week) has head scratchers during the course of a 30 game season.  A wise coach told me one time, when coaching teenagers you'll have 2-3 No Shows and 2-3 Games you show up and win when you have no chance!

What does the 45th district tournament look like now? As far as matchups. I know DCA is the one seed, but how does the rest shake out?

Boyle and Lincoln are the 2-3.
