What, blue chip, O and D linemen are returning for teams around the state? Give height, weight, stats, interested colleges, ect.

Trinity will return a number of outstanding O-linemen next season. The one that stands out is Sam Robey. He is listed at 6'5" 230#. He will probably start the football season between 240 and 250. He is a two time AP all-state selection. He lists ND, OSU and UofL as his three favorite potential college choices. He is also a starter on defense.:thumb:

I dont know of many blue chips that I seen around the state. But Franklin County on Lost one lineman. they return several very good offensive and defensive lineman but no 6'5 300 guys.

Pendleton Co. returns C Kyle Pettit He is 6-3 290lbs. He made 5 trips by invitation to Michigan this past season. He will be attending camp there this summer.

Andy Shulte from Covington Catholic, not the biggest but he is very good.

I assume you're talking D-1 potential kids -- which means they have SIZE to go along with playing ability. We have some VERY good high school linemen at Pikeville, but as far as having the SIZE, there are two here that I think will garner some looks from D1 and 1AA schools.

 

Jordan Johnson - DE/OL - 6'5, 265 (jr. season last year was first he's played since 7th grade...never misses a day in off-season...already has qualifying scores/grades. LONG arms and very coachable.)

 

Clay Elliott - OL - 6'4, 265 (had to start Soph. year on varsity way before he was ready and struggled. But it made him a lot better and tougher and he was one of our best OL last year. Never misses a lift day and stays afterwards for extra work. Is putting on GOOD weight since season ended. Growing another inch may be difference between D-1 and 1AA.)

Very good summation. Sounds like Pikeville will have a good line, which says, to me, that Pikeville will have a good offense. Good luck.

 

I thought it would be interesting to hear about some of the linemen in the state, D1, 1AA, even D2. We read and type about backs and ends, good to hear about the players that work with little recognition.

I am not doubting that, someday, Sam Robey will be at least 6'5" or more, but he was not when I stood next to him in November.

 

I think he is an excellent player. I am not sure what position he plays at the next level, but he will play at a good Division I school.

Maybe you had a bad angle. I'm a legit 6'4", Sam is taller than me. If he isn't 6'5" he is 6'4" and something. I think Sam wants to play TE in college. I really think he would be great on the defensive side of the ball. I think this may be Sam's last season of basketball. Look for him to have a great senior year and then spend all his time getting ready to play football at the next level. I keep telling his Dad to not forget his roots... his Louisiana roots and send Sam down to LSU.:lol:

Highlands returns big # 78 Alex Hempfling to anchor a young O-line. The SR to be is 6'3 / 260 lbs has played T-G on both sides of the center. Good speed, long arms, hard-working, great kid! Heard UC was inquiring last year...look for more to be interested as he pancakes d-linemen on the way to state title #17 this year!!!

...also look for Luke Stein from HHS to make noise with recruiters. An all-area TE last year, rumor has him moving inside for his SR season. 6'2 / 240 and cut like a weight-lifter. Good speed, good hands, basketball player agility, and that certain "nasty" on the field that you like in a lineman. He and Hempfling could blow some major holes open for the Bluebird backs next year!

Luke Stine and Ryan Ball are moving to the offensive line for Highlands.
