He is only in 5th grade. Let him dream.

Exactly. Like I've said before, he wants to play for Tennessee, that is why I'm a Tennessee fan. Not sure how I raised a Tennessee fan, but I did. I took him to UT football camp last year, he went up to Coach Fulmer and said, "I'm going to play for you in eight years", and he said, "I hope you do". He was in amazement.

Bardstown returns Jeremy Gesser, a center who got Honorable-Mention All-State. He is 6'2" 250 lbs. He started all of last year and some of 2005 I believe. I also think Centre College is interested, don't write it in stone though.

The Defensive Linemen from PRP is very good. I think he was all state this year and is coming back.

Grades and college entrance exam scores are also emphasized. GPA and ACT scores are one of the 1st questions asked.

Disagree almost totally. We have been to several visits were either the boys didnt have the grades or the ACT scores and it hasnt mattered not one bit. I can actually say it might happen at UK right now. The fact of the matter is at most schools if you are wanted you will get in. I go back to size and weight and what they want you for is all that matters. Admissions at football visits has said time after time things can be worked around.

Guess it depends on the college.

As they should be. I love football just as much as the next person but truely this is happening. When football is gone you have that degree in your hand. You should have been working hard in high school to get good grades and football should be teaching you the discipline to help that along. It is only hurting the player to let him go through with bad grades or poor ACT scores.

So what are you saying about these institutions that you said don't care about academics?

Cory Tymensky sp? from Ryle bout 6'1'' 310lbs EARTH MOVER great blocker. '

Ryle also returns four starting lineman.

If you know an institution that is actually saying you have to have these grades and you have to have these scores then i applaude them but after going to 5 different institutions ranging in divisions i personally did not see that. The speech started out that way but ended with dont worry about it we can work around it.

You also cannot put the total blame on the colleges. There are times when the high schools are the same. What is that teaching the kids?

Every student athlete attending an NCAA institution must register with the NCAA clearinghouse above in order to be eligible. They may get into school, but they won't be eligible to play athletics unless they have gone through the clearinghouse and been declared eligible.

I enjoyed reading that. I havent looked at that before. However it is extremely broad. It seems like it is just asking for normal requirments. Certain items to be submitted etc.. It also said what courses and hours the college student needed. I agree about the academic suspensions but if a student is coming in that way wouldnt you think about maybe a student that has the needed requirements first. I believe in chances but you can almost look at their transcript and see if they tried to improve.

IMO, colleges should be extremely concerned with academics if they care about their reputations. Very few college athletes move onto the pro level which means their academics have to pay off. College athletes are the cream of the crop with exception of the NFl, so they should aldo be the best in the athletic facet too.

I too think they should think about this. When their speach starts out about academics it should stay in that direction. You are right also that i can see where you cannot just put anyone in just because they meet requirements they should be just as good or better athletically.
