Boyle County 54 South Laurel 27

On heritage night, the Junction City Red Devils (Boyle) takes down the second best team in the 13th region.

After catching a lot of heat this week, the Rebels have bounced back with two really nice wins back to back nights.

Yea the Rebels are playing really good now.  54.5% last night and 53.6% shooting for the 2 games.  In most of the losses that Boyle have, they have been shooting under 30% for the games.

Did the Mabe kid play for SL?  Seen a photo from this game, and didn’t see him.

Mabe went out 2nd qtr with knee injury. I heard Demauriah Brown and Montavin Quisenberry combined for 13 steals.

Oh no, hope the kid is alright.  He’s a beast!  Still a good W for Boyle regardless, but Mabe is a do it all type player for the Cards.

Given that they’re both guards playing up top, 13 steals for kids with that kind of speed could equate to 26+ points. Probably at least 20. And that’s your difference in the game.

If you don’t have a solid backcourt, you don’t want to face Boyle. And that makes them a tough matchup for a lot of teams in the 12th. But if a team has the guard play to limit turnovers and make them score in the half court, it’s a different game. I think DCA & Somerset can do that, and perhaps Pulaski if they get Fraley back.

I appreciate that comment about Mabe and I'm sure he would as well. Thank you

I was in town and at the game because my Dad was a Senior on the Junction City team that won the District in 1956 and my mom, who is living, was a cheerleader.  That was a great experience for our family.

The injured player seemed to be a real difference maker but when he went down Boyle just pounced on the Cardinals with their speed.  I pray he recovers well from that night.

Yeah he was the only player that had experienced the speed Boyle has and being 6'8 he could see over and handle their press. As far as recovery I'm sure time will tell. I'm sure he will appreciate the prayers as he is a spiritual kid. Kudos to Boyle on a great win.

He’s the Defacto PG/Point Forward for the Cards from what I’ve seen.

Difference in % is due to difference in style.  Steals lead to transition baskets and they are pretty good at that.  Offensively Boyle still really struggles in half court offensive sets.  Not bad from three, but just don't have a good identity in the half court.  But since all of their starters are football players it only stands to reason they would take some time to figure things out.

I love that Boyle County does this. Forkland last year, Junction City this year. That leaves Parksville and Perryville over the next couple of years. Does anyone know what they do with the jerseys once they play the game?
