Fiesta Bowl final.

Another New Years Day blowout bowl game, ouch.

Liberty was in over their head.

I agree and this matchup should have never been set.

Anyone know what the line was on this game?  In my mind it was Oregon by 5+ touchdowns.

A quick check says 18.5.

Shocked that this one was this close.

I'm guessing Vegas wasn't sure who all was actually playing for Oregon.  Bo Nix was and that's really all that mattered in this one.  

 

Hats off to Liberty for a great season but they had no business in this game.  This would've been a fun year to have had 12 teams in the playoffs with Oregon and Ole Miss getting a chance to pull off an upset.

Same and I am somewhat glad to see a bunch of these games be a joke.  I wonder how the bowl games outside of the 12 team playoff will be next year.

I'd say they'll start to be less watched but not terribly less.  Most years the top 2 Big10 teams are getting in the playoffs and probably any SEC team that has a 10-2 or better record.   That still leaves plenty of other big programs on the outside looking in.

I wonder about the quality of the games too.  One team has a bunch of people sitting out and the other team is ready to go.  I also think the way it has been with so few teams getting in the playoffs, none, to two, to four, that when it is expanded to 12 that anything outside of that 12 is a super nothing burger that one (coaches, players, fans included) want to be a part of.  If I was a player at one of those schools and I had to practice for another month or longer for the Garbage Bowl I would probably enter the portal out of some combination of principle and spite. 

Going to see the same thing in the playoffs with highest ranked non-power champ getting in each year. Most years, they'll get pounded.

My thing with the NIL being tied to playing in the bowl games is make it an upfront thing so guys know whether or not they want to sign.  I'm sure there will still be plenty of NIL offers out there that won't care if you play in a bowl or not.

Absolutely not!  There is no way I would restrict the players in any way.  The players need representation and none of them should ever agree to NIL requirements for games that are not on the schedule.

Agree to disagree.  It's the only way to ensure they're playing in Bowl games and that's including the CFP.

 

Would you be ok if their NIL deal instead, incentives them playing in said games?
