January 22, 200719 yr I'm hearing former Miami LB Willie Williams has committed to the Cards. This is the same Williams who was the #1 ranked LB in the class of 2005, but has yet to play a full season due to legal trouble and off the field incidents. This could be a good pickup for UL if the kid has straightened up, he is as athletically gifted as anyone in the nation, but I'm no so sure he has. Williams was arrested 11 times before he enrolled at Miami and left the school shortly after. UL has done this kind of thing before (see Nate Harris and Rod Council) and things have worked out fine, but I'm not so sure the same thing will happen with Williams.
January 22, 200719 yr ^ I have heard he has committed as well...that's a five star pickup...from what i am gathering his commitment is conditional on a "zero-tolerence" policy.

January 22, 200719 yr When Marshall went out on a limb and gave Moss a chance, they had to babysit him. The Huntington PD was always at his apartment for domestic violence calls. More often than not, they hauled his girlfriend away. While sometimes, going after these troubled athletes may be worth the risk, I would be very gunshy. It would be a shame for UofL to get into a situation with Williams like Ohio State did w/ Clarrett. My dad always advised me to stay away from trouble, and it has paid off.

Good move by the new coach and his staff. :thumb: Hope this move works out well for the Cards. Kinda hard to turn down a ***** player.

It better be zero-tolerance... a guy who's been arrested 11 times but still has a chance to end up with a pro-football career making millions makes me sick to my stomach.

January 22, 200719 yr Anyone have a source for this rumor? I don't believe it. Coach Petrino passed on this guy, and you are telling me Coach Krag wants him. If so. I'm disappointed in his judgement.

I'm disappointed in his judgement. You can get on ITV and see that he visited Louisville earlier in the week. Their is a link from a Miami board that says he will be a Card. Not a definite, but it sounds like it is on the verge of happening.
January 22, 200719 yr Asfar as I know he's been trouble free, he just couldn't face the facts at UM. Hope he turns his life around in L'ville if this is true.

You know if he is too much trouble for Miami that he has some serious issues. I would sure hate the thoughts of him living in my neighborhood. If true, this is a step backward for the UL program.
January 22, 200719 yr http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?t=98491 My opinion hasn't changed. If he can come here and be a model citizen like Nate Harris was, then maybe he can turn his life around.

If true, this is a step backward for the UL program. No criminals in your neighborhood?? Don't be so sure. I don't think it's a step back for UL at all. He has a rap sheet but he didn't break the law in Coral Gables, like I stated before, if he keeps his nose clean he'll benefit the UL program, if he doesn't he's gone and UL moves on and he's done, seems simple to me. I know he has a questionable past, and character, being a UM fan I would have loved to see him knocking out ACC opponents. The thing that worries me is UM gave him a shot, he couldn't cut it (that's not so bad since UM has a very nice defensive scheme) but seems like he gave up on the only team that would give him a shot because he wasn't good enough to fit the bill.
