We have a huge district rivalry matchup on Friday. On paper, these two teams are as far apart as they have been in the last decade. However, a rivalry matchup brings in a lot of weird variables. Can Pulaski pull off the upset on their home turf? Or does Southwestern clinch a third-straight district title.

Rivalry games can be unpredictable.  But this one shouldn't be.  SW should win going away.  SW 35-PC 14.

Really don't know a ton about either of these teams this season, but after going to Southwestern last season in the playoffs, I know it's a BIG rivalry game in that area of the state.

Will never forget Pulaski County kids asking BG fans for purple colored gear to wear during the game.  It was funny at the time.  ?

Based on above, I would think SW is the clear favorite, but also think Pulaski would ok at this point just messing up SW's season by knocking them off here.  Just don't know if they can.

There is certainly no love lost for both of these teams. 

Pulaski has had stretches of football where they have looked like the best team in the district. But I don't think they have put a four quarter game together all season. Pulaski is very young and their youth has been showing week after week.

I thought that might be the case. Pulaski has played a very solid schedule (Pikeville, Corbin, Woodford, plus district games) and their competitiveness has been a mixed bag. It just feels like Southwestern is the better club this time around.

Foley has Hines' number, winning six of their seven head to head meetings. The current four game streak for Southwestern is tied for the longest by either team in the rivalry's history. 

This is the first year in a while that the teams are this far apart. The Warriors are a decisive favorite. The heat generated by the rivalry may elevate Pulaski County for a while, but Southwestern is the better, more experienced team and very fundamentally sound. The Maroons will need help pulling off the upset, but you can't count on the Warriors being generous.

Always an 8:00 start. They do a little league event before the varsity game.

Pulaski County gets a field goal on their opening drive, 3-0 Maroons. 

Starting QB for the Warriors is not dressed.
