Diamondbacks vs. Phillies (NLCS)

Featured Replies

Looking forward to this series.  Both teams are playing great ball right now.

I can't believe Harper and Castellanos hit HRs again!

Wheeler was dealing yesterday.

Can both series start 2-0?

I'm guessing  yes.

Phillies are rolling baby! Bats are hot but the pitching has been fantastic.

Hope they can keep it going in Arizona.

2 Scwarbombs were a good start, but that game was over when an infield pop up falls between 3 guys near third.  Not sure the DBacks recover from that.

The Phillies are just mashing the baseball right now. Hard to believe just about all of the HR's they've hit have been solo shots. It's been many years since I've been to a home Phillies game, and haven't been to a playoff game since the 90's, but I can vouch for how loud that place can get. My only concern right now is Turner's shaky defense and how Alvardo and Kimbrel can just suddenly lose the plate at times.

Arizona walks off a 2-1 win in the bottom of the 9th. Looks like may be a series now.

Lucky for Arizona they won.  If they had lost that game and the series, from now until opening day 2024 they'd be having to defend pulling Pfaadt when they did.

That's one of several strange moves from last night. Still can't believe the Phillies didn't bunt Stott with runners on 1st and 2nd and nobody out in the 7th. He hasn't hit a ball hard in over a week, Realmuto and Casty were on deck and he ended up hitting into a double play. And the real problem the Phillies have is their closer. Kimbrel has not been good over the last 4-6 weeks, and just loses the strike zone at some point in every outing. Last night, he walked the leadoff guy who ended up scoring the winning run. If the Phillies get back to raking and having big leads all is good. But in playoff baseball, you can't expect to crush multiple HR's every game. I know they've been riding him all year, but I have zero confidence in him right now.

Series doesn’t start until the road team wins. This one may not “start” at all.
