Before the game my thought process was if Apollo plays their best game they can make this competitive. After the game my thinking is if Apollo just played clean they could’ve walked out of this game with a W. Good defense by both teams tonight. Which is surprising as I thought it would be Apollos offense that would be making some noise tonight…. Even in a loss Apollo has to walk away with some confidence knowing that they 1 score away from being the 2nd best team in the district.

I didn't realize until I looked at their schedule how many tough opponents Apollo has played. Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic, Bowling Green, Meade County. Hard to judge them against such good competition, but a solid showing tonight.

Apollo has some weapons. Niles Board who’s one of the leading rushers out with an injury limited options. Johnson is effective as a freshman QB starting varsity. Graves’ defense had him scrambling too often tonight. As mentioned above, flags hurt us. The updates thread says we had two touchdowns called back for holding. I think one of them was another illegal procedure flag. I’m not sure what was causing all of those tonight. 
 

For me, this is three games in a row we’ve shown significant improvement. We needed the Muhlenberg game to get a win under our belts. Everyone knew Owensboro would be like running into a buzzsaw. Then tonight we put some pieces together on both sides of the ball. That “2-minute drill” in the second half was about 6 inches either way on a pass from becoming a touchdown. Kudos to the graves defender who managed to reach up and grab it. 

@gchs_uk9 fairly young squad too. Don’t usually speak highly of Apollo but I think they’ll be a team to watch come next year.

Both of these teams are getting better every week.  Congrats to Graves.

I'm impressed with Apollo in this game.  They gave great effort against BG earlier in the year.  Just didn't have the horses in that game.  Tonight they err'ed on very fixable things, so I'd say there is alot to like in the Apollo camp.

For Graves, I just don't know.  If your the 2nd best team in the district, I would have expected a better effort here honestly.  But it's a longer bus ride than most think.

That likely Greenwood at Graves game in the first round is going to be a good one!

@Purple88 Graves and GW play first round? Tough game for both teams to start the playoffs, should be a good match up. That’s the type of game whoever gets home field likely wins. Graves is just different when they play at home.

Graves should beat Gwood.   They are no where near last years team.

@Brown I agree GW isn’t last years team but still good enough to make it pretty tough on Graves. 

Graves was down 2 starting dline players last night and have had a starter out for the season since week 1 on the dline. They lost their starting center week 2 and have been using the next man up mentality all year. Pretty good job by the staff with the injuries they have had in the trenches to be doing what they are doing. Looks like they held Apollo to negative rushing yards and barley over 150 yards of offense. The only Apollo TD was off a scoop and score.

They also have a starting WR/DB who broke his collar bone in a scrimmage and his 1st game back last week rolled his ankle on a big catch. Last night was his first full game on offense back and he had one of the TD catches.

Apollo had Dillbeck, Griffith and Board out. Might be a reason they had a low number rushing night. 
 

After watching Owensboro escape with a win at Graves then turn around and kill Apollo. Then Apollo turns around and gives Graves all they want. I also was told Apollo had 2 TDs called back.
