Mercer County enters the game with an unblemished 4-0 record including a Week One win against Taylor County— a victory that is aging very well. Southwestern is coming off their first win of the season on the road against a solid Belfry team. This game should be much closer than people would have imagined a few weeks ago. Does Mercer County finish Friday night undefeated, or does Southwestern play spoiler?

This will be a big test for Mercer to see where they are at and what they need to work on.  Key will be if Mercer can hang with southwestern up front.  I think Mercer has the skill guys to play with them.

I think Belfry would beat Mercer so I have to think SW should win this game.

I think that it is debatable just how well Mercer County's win over Taylor County is aging.   Sure, Taylor County has won 3 in a row since Mercer beat them in week one.  But the 3 teams that they have beaten are a combined 1-11.   Mercer County's other 3 wins have come against Danville, PL Dunbar and Shelby County.  Those teams are a combined 2-10, with one of those wins being Shelby County beating Dunbar.  Mercer County is a paper tiger and it will show on Friday.

Southwestern 35-13.

Southwestern is the favorite with being a top 10 5A team taking on an unranked 3A team.  Against Belfry they ran the ball the majority of the game and I see them doing the same against Mercer.  Taylor and Shelby are not bad football teams.  Taylor has several D-1 players and I think the Shelby RB will end up being D1 if he stays healthy.  Not saying either team are world beaters or tops in their class but they aren't bad teams.  Southwestern will by far be the best team Mercer has played.

Can Southwestern stop Mercer?

Could be wrong but I just don't see Mercer stopping SW.  I think SW wins by a couple of scores.

21-0 SW at halftime. Mercer has had their chances though. This one isn’t over yet.
