There is no credibility to calpreps this early in the year. As the year progresses it gets more accurate as the current year data is inputted. At this point they are almost completely going off of last year.

Just for kicks I've used them for the pick em the last two weeks. Look at my picks, they have barely gotten 50% of the games correct.

I wouldn't say no credibility, but the accuracy increases every week. By the time we get to game 5, calpreps.com is going to be much more accurate.

  • Well tell coach to put in the other 10 guys because they are giving up a lot of points.

I think so many people are caught up in Cutter Boley to UK that they have a big LCA bias in their view.  calpreps.com actually has Pikeville projected to win this game by one point.

  • I think this week will show us whether LCA's defense is as bad as some say it is. Ik it's very early but BG is averaging 47 pts/g so far, BC is currently at 41.5 pts/g and Pikeville is currently at 27

Way different style of football will be played then what both teams went against their first 2 games. This game will come down to if LCA is physical enough to slow down or contain Pikevilles rushing attack.

Maybe.  LCA is so quick strike that Pikeville may have to throw the ball.

Maybe but the value of possession is even greater playing Pikeville because they’re not BG or Boyle county whos going quick to score. One Cutter turnover can change things big time if they’re already down 7.

I agree.

LCA has a one man wrecking crew on the DL.

I've watched both of LCA's games so far...I'm not sure if their defense is as bad as everyone seems to think. I'm pretty sure Boyle and Bowling Green will put big numbers up on anyone they play this year.

In my opinion this is the most interesting game of the week. If LCA rolls then I think Mayfield and Beechwood could be in trouble this year. If Pikeville wins or it's very close, then 2A is definitely wide open at the top.

Pikeville is running through 1A regardless of this outcome.

Beechwood is always in trouble when it comes to LCA. Hope it works out for the Tigers one year.

If LCA keeps Pikeville under that at about 21-24 pts then I'll say that they're defense isn't as bad as it has seemed, But if Pikeville has their way with LCA defense even if LCA wins I'll definitely have Mayfield and Beechwood ranked ahead of them.

I don't think a one dimensional team will beat LCA, as good as Pikeville's run game is. Pikeville is going to have to open it up to get LCA to empty the box.

2 championship games separated by 3 points. Your luck is bound to change.

You worry about about getting there first.

Maybe so but if Pikeville is chewing up clock getting 4-6 yards a carry. Margin for era is slim and LCA last year and at times this year can be careless.

Pikeville's point total so far is also a product of the offenses that they have faced. JC ran the ball (60+ plays) on all but one play, which slowed the game and limited possessions for both teams keeping the scores a little lower. Pulaski threw twice as much as they ran, meaning quicker drives and more possessions (producing over 40 points). LCA is a quick strike offense whether they ran or throw the ball. This game will have a lot of possessions.

I think with this being a high possession game, that I would be surprised if Pikeville doesn't have an opportunity to score 30+ points.

Pikeville ran 61 plays with 34 points against Pulaski ( who ran 44 plays) and Pikeville ran 33 plays with 21 points against Johnson Central (ran 67 plays).

LCA runs a lot of plays, but they are by no means a grind it out and chew the clock team. I expect LCA to continue to score at a high rate in this game, giving Pikeville ample opportunity to run all the offense they want.
