Are school IDs issued everywhere now? Asking because I honestly don't know.

I think so. Most high schools use the I'd as a badge to scan to get lunch, check out books in the library, various other things such as that. I'm not sure about middle and elementary schools.

Bottom line is: It's not the school's responsibility to police people's unruly children. The school has some reach into dealing with the behavioral issues of those kids who go to school within the dis

Given what I've seen in the last decade, this is long overdue.

I am all for kids being kids as long as parents are parents.  When we were kids, it was great to go to a school event unchaperoned.  It was a safe way for kids to gain some level of independence and s

Really they need to get the kids in the stands, problems I see are from kids who are just congregated outside the stands in common areas.. with nothing to do but foolish things.

I think this is an important point.  The enforcement is a huge part of this otherwise its just words.

If you have a bunch trying to get into the game, how are you going to hold the line to keep some of these kids out?  That can be confrontational.  Is the AD and staff going to be present for that?

Do you refund their money?  I know at Manual it's all GoFan; so for example, a middle schooler say gets a GoFan ticket and his parents drop him and bolt like always; then what?  It's going to be a headache for a few games I think.

But if it saves from some of the fights I've seen recently, it is worth it.

Agree that the enforcement seems crazy to me.

Lot's of Middle Schoolers are bigger and look more like High Schoolers than the actual High Schoolers.

Definitely needed at some schools.  I’ve seen some crazy behavior at Dixie games the past few years that I don’t seem to see at Highlands or CCH.
And kids roaming up and down the strip near Dixie after games is bad too.

Then you must have been there for one of those schools.  Because as a fan from the opposite team, I can tell you my family including 2 kids were heckled by CCH high school fans as we left a game.  Don’t turn a blind eye, it happens everywhere!

I was not meaning it does not happen at those 2 school, absolutely any HS in the state has crazy kids/fans.  I tend to end up at those 3 schools the most and was just meaning Dixie stands out a little more, but I really do think the location and busy businesses around them lead to more kids hanging out and being dropped off bc they have an easy place to walk to after the game.

I don't mind the heckling as much. If it gets off color and they start getting personal that's a different story. But I think the premise is the unsupervised kids running around common areas, vandalizing, fighting, and being generally disorderly. It's like the wish version of high school musical. I watched two coaches from Dixie try to chase off a crowd of Highlands middle school kids last season hovering around the entrance to where they get ready talking trash to players. Redhawk I think it is fair to mention Dixie in the context you did. The businesses around there just add to the loitering in the area. Dixie has so many events there that it is easy to have seen an incident or two.

Am I the only one that thinks this is ridiculous or maybe I should say disappointing.  Our kids need to be able to be kids.  I totally agree that there are some bad apples that need to be dealt with but to throw a full encompassing policy that ALL elementary/middle school aged kids need to have parent/guardian at the game with you. Growing up in the Ft T bubble I would guess that the majority of the middle school aged kids attending the games don't have a parent/guardian in attendance.  In my mind its a safe fun environment for these kids to congregate and hang out....and if they so choose too they can watch a pretty fun game that is being played.

I don't know what the better solution would be, maybe more administration/police support at the games to deal with the bad apples.....

But put me down as not really happy about this potential trend.....

Well part of highlands’ problem is that they have a silly rule saying middle schoolers have to sit in those tiny bleachers in the north endzone, which aren’t even close to big enough. They aren’t allowed in the main bleachers and really have no where to go. The whole stadium needs to be revamped, with the bleachers widened and pushed back from the field. It’s way too close to the visiting sideline.

Hell, a kid got tackled into the concrete ramp of the bleachers in a JV game last year. It wasn’t pretty.

How do they determine they are Middle Schoolers?  Does the rule apply to visiting kids too?

It only applies to highlands students.  I have no idea how they would know who’s who, but I’m guessing there are teachers present?  Let’s just say they don’t do a great job of enforcing it. There’s really no point because they can’t all fit anyway.

Correct, there are teachers/Middle School administrators policing that area to make sure the kids are behaving.  They also educate the Middle School students in school to make them aware they are NOT allowed in the High School Ozone area of the stands.  Now Highlands kids (Middle School or younger) are allowed to sit with a parent in the main stands if they so choose, so they aren't exempt from sitting in the main stands, just need to be with a parent in them.  Whereas they can just be with their fellow Middle School classmates with no parents around them if they want to hang out in the stands behind the North End zone.

But to your point 1959, Highlands is long overdue on doing something with the lack of stand capacity, unfortunately I don't know what you can do with the lack of level ground you are dealing with at that location.  It be nice to have some sort of wrap around stands to go around to the end zone areas.....but I am not an architect, so don't know how feasible that is.

Are the kids really doing anything that bad? They’re definitely not always dialed in watching the game, but I’ve seen very little to get worked up about. If someone gets out of hand, the administrators or cops can handle it. The high schools need kids at the games. It’s a short sighted rule for non football schools.
