800 yards for LCA?  I’ve never seen that.  I mean 509 for BG is huge, but 800??!  Wow very impressive.  BG had 2 defensive TD’s and it looks like a return TD.  Tremendous offense for first game.

We probably witnessed the game of the year already in Week 1. Who's going to top it?

Brady Hensley went off with 300+ yards and 7 touchdowns. Again, who's going to top that?

There's a long way to go, but this was almost Trinity/Male 2002 levels of special.

Let's not get carried away.

I said almost. T vs. H in '02 still occupies a league of its own, but last night put me in a similar head space.

Goodness gracious. That stat line! Impressive. Where was this kid last year? Is he a freshman?

Man it was a long ride home.  I don't think you get over a game like that; you just move on.

That's what BG has to do.  Middle of the 3rd Quarter when BG was on defense, they had 1 starter in the back 7 with 3 Jrs and 3 Sos supporting Newman the FS.  So really happy with the younger Purples who stepped up last night.

For LCA, just an amazing team.  Tip of the cap to Coach Charles and company.  I see now why they scheduled the way they did.  I think that will be a big advantage for them at the end of the season.

Senior. He came to LCA from Madison Central over the summer. First team all-state last season.

Serious question ... is anyone concerned for the lack of defense by both teams? I certainly understand the excitement. As a fan, I would be extremely concerned about the defenses, or lack thereof.

In a word yes.  But if you read the predictions thread, you will pull a common belief that both offenses would be ahead of the defenses because of who came back this year and transferred in for LCA.  That played out on the field last night.   If they played again at the end of the year, I think you'd see a game in the upper 20s or lower 30s as the defenses would improve over the year.

There were 2 D1 QBs out there last night and at least 1 D1 RB (I personally think Javen Huddleston from BG is D1 also, but returning from illness so he wasn't 100%) and likely a few D1 WRs.  You don't see that everygame.

Reminded me of St X vs Owensboro a few years ago.  51-38.  No one could stop the other much and it was 1st game of year.  Hot game tons of cramps and backups in.  Both of those teams had very solid defenses as the year progressed.  That game yards were 491 O to 479 X.

In that game, St. X defense had 4 or 5 starters get in in 1Q then Owensboro offense took off. Fortunately, for St. X, they had built up a lead to survive the shoot out. Was fun game.
