UPDATE: Perry scored 32 points tonight in Lyon County's 109-75 win over Hopkins County Central in the first round of the 2nd Region Tournament at Madisonville-North Hopkins. He needs 95 points to become the state's new all-time scoring leader.

UPDATE: Travis Perry scored 33 points in Lyon County's 2nd Region tournament championship game victory over Hopkinsville on Tuesday. He needs 21 points to become Kentucky's all-time leading scorer, and will get that chance on Kentucky's biggest stage, Rupp Arena, at next week's Sweet 16 Tournament in Lexington. Perry has scored fewer than 21 points just once this season. He's averaging 32.2 ppg. Lyon County's next game is against Newport in the first round March 16.

Newport is good, but it would be stunning to me for him not to get it in the Sweet 16 opener.  Especially considering he hasn't scored below 20 this whole year.

Assuming Perry breaks the record in the Sweet 16 vs Newport, and remains healthy all next year, he could create a record that may not be broken for a LONG TIME. I feel like it is not talked about enough that he still is a Junior. 

I’ve seen Newport twice this year, they are long down low. How does Perry’s game match up with driving to the hoop against tall guys? Cooper hardy attempted to drive to the hoop against Newport in the second half. I’m  cheering for Newport in this one but it would be cool for this young man to break the record in Rupp.
