Is UK ranked in the top 25?

Featured Replies

With 9 wins in a row and the name Kentucky on their chest, I would expect them to be ranked with their only losses coming to UCLA, Memphis, and UNC.

Maybe after another win and UK will be in the top 25.

They haven't even cracked the top 30 yet. I don't know that they get in this week.

36 votes in the AP poll and I believe 5 votes in the Coaches.

Their next few conference games are "winnable" I know there are no guarantees in basketball, so it goes without saying, they keep winning and the rankings take care of themselves.

It's just odd that UK has to keep winning, keep winning, and keep winning some more just to get ranked this season. While other teams are losing, losing some more, and even losing again, yet those teams still remain in the top 25. Write it down, once UK does get ranked, they'll be right back out after they lose a game or two.

Seeing is how Virginia only ranked MAYBE once a year, I would be happy just happy getting votes from someone. : )

I know UK has a far great basketball tradition and expectations that UVA, but just being noticed by someone is good, right? lol

You are doing something right if you are getting noticed at least.

As long as they don't lay an egg today, they'll jump back in the top 25 this week.

It'll be hard for them not to with all 25 teams losing this week, it seems. Im sure the voters will jump at the first opportunity to drop them right back out, however. It'll take 10 straight wins to get in and only one loss to get knocked right back out.

When is the last time Kentucky beat a team they shouldn't? When was their last BIG win? How many top 25 teams have they beat lately? I know one thing, they've lost to a bunch. The big win over Auburn don't count for squat, they've lost more than 50% of their games over the past three years. They're not in the top 25 because there are 25 teams better than them for sure. It's a sad day when us KY fans would be tickled if the Cats could crack the top 25. Would you guys honestly be happy/satisfied if we come out next week at #25?

Three losses... I guess you can't count because that isn't a lot to anyone else.

Thanks for your insight...

Schools like UK, UNC, Kansas, Duke and so on.. SHOULD beat most teams they play. Fans don't ever go into Rupp thinking 'should we be able to beat this team?'.. They go in thinking they'll win, because they expect to win. So no win is that BIG of a win. A few years ago UF came in #1, UK throttled them. However it was just another game to the fans, and it affected UK's ranking very little.

It's easy to just throw teams like WVU, ND, and so on in the top 25 every time they beat a team they shouldn't, because there are a lot of teams they shouldn't beat. But it's different when your talking about a UK, UNC, Kansas type squad. When was the last time UNC beat a team they shouldn't have? Your argument doesn't hold water.

As far as being 'tickled' if they crack the top 25. I for one, hope they don't crack the top 25, at least until late Feb.

To answer your question the last game we probably won that we weren't favored to win was last year against Tennessee at Tennessee. Then this year yeah we lost to the 3 ranked teams we played. But lets see 2 of the losses came against 2 of the top 5 teams in the country, and the other loss came against a team that was our 5th game in 8 days. Then we go beat two teams in UL, and IU that are big rivals and as everyone says anything can happen when you play your rivals and we took care of business and won those games.

So you honestly believe that every team in the top 25 is better than UK? I mean you think UCONN is better? If you do then you are going against what you just said about UK. Because when was the last time UCONN beat someone they were suppose to beat? When was the last time they beat a ranked team? Do they have ANY good wins at all this year? Or what about Duke who has lost to 3 teams now that are unranked that yet probably will still be in the top 20 when the poll comes out. I mean what have they done to make them so much better. So once you can actually give me good reasons to why teams like that should be ranked while a team like UK shouldn't be then you can get back to me. But until you can do that, you might want to say stuff like that again...

Get real guys! You must be wearing those blue colored glasses. When the coaches and AP put Kentucky in the top 10 or even #1 you totally agree. According to the same coaches and AP there are about 30 teams that can beat Kentucky on a regular basis at this time and you won't have it. Face the facts...Kentucky basketball has been on a six year down hill slide to mediocracy and it looks like we're going to be there a while. You can't count "good losses" as anything that's good. Back in the day, a loss was never something for the Blue to bragg about. It's a sad, sad time in the bluegrass today folks...Our fans are beginning to accept the average state that our beloved Cats are in. The reason the Cats are not ranked is because they can't beat a formidable opponent. Period!

P.S. I can say whatever I want as long as I stay within the rules. Don't get so uptight, it's just my opinion.

And Kentucky on the uniform doesnt mean what it used to mean 8-10 years ago to voters across the nation
