Weatherford (OK) 4 Anadarko (OK) 2

Featured Replies

Both teams have applied for admittance to the GCL South for next season.

For what it's worth ~

• MaxPreps rates Weatherford at Oklahoma #12, Anadarko OK #150.

• The two schools are an hour's drive apart, which in Sooner speak, means they're neighbors.

• This is Johnny Bench territory. The town of Binger is smack dab in the middle of the two.

I have watched teams try to run stall ball, and it is usually very difficult.  If you are pressuring properly, a team almost can never hold the ball long enough to bleed the entire clock.  Weatherford seemed content to let them do it - they won, so who is to say they were wrong?

Another valid argument that high school basketball needs a shot clock!!

So it happened one time and the entire apple cart needs to be upended?

If you are Weatherford, would you empty your bench and tell them to pressure aggressively and foul? Put the bad team at the foul line. Foul them on every possession till you have a solid lead. Then let them hold the ball if they want to.

Exactly what I would do.

I have, back a few years ago when UC played UK.

I remembered it was the 83-84 team, but not much more.  Cats won 24-11.  Was 11-7 at the half….

Man I'm an insomniac wonder if there is a copy of this game floating around the net.

There's a TikTok of the full game sped up that lasts for about two minutes and was pretty funny to watch.

There are very few examples in Kentucky history of scores like this but a couple come to mind:

  • Daviess County beat Apollo, 8-6, in the first round of the 9th District in 1982.

  • Clay County beat Oneida Baptist, 16-12, in the 49th District in 2001.

Bowling Green beat Warren East 17-15 in the 1999 14th District semifinals.  Bowling Green was 25-0 and East was 6-16.  The two had played twice already and Bowling Green had won by 25 and 35.  It was just 11-8 going into the 4th, and East missed a shot at the buzzer that would have won the game.
