The former Reds third baseman will likely be enshrined as a Cardinal.  He was the only player on the ballot to reach the 75% threshold.   Todd Helton just missed at 72%

I like Scott Rolen. Had Phillies season tickets when he came up, and watched him when he was here in Cincy, so I'm familiar with his career. In my eyes, he's not a HOF'er. Really nice ballplayer. GREAT fielder. But I wouldn't even say he was one of the top 10 players at any point in time in his era. Some of the last few years the HOF electees have been borderline at best. Fred Mcgriff, Jim Kant, Harold Baines, Larry Walker just to name a few. Since 2019 really only Mariano Rivera, Roy Halladay, Jeter, and Ortiz really strike me as true HOF'ers.

He was in Cincy from mid season 2009-2012. Really only played one full season in 2010. Only played 65 games in 2011, and 92 games in 2012. He really only had two good seasons after the age of 30, and had maybe 5 total great seasons in his 17 year career. I can't even make a decent argument for why he got elected outside of he was truly a GREAT fielder.

Baseball Writers/HOF Voters are the worst. They will vote for players they "liked" and won't vote for the ones they don't like personally.

I think the system is broken. The standards are now such that just being really good get you in, especially with the veterans committee. 

I like the guy, but this is a VERY marginal pick.   
 

Todd Helton helped me to my first of four straight Fantasy baseball titles (I retired undefeated), so I’ll sorta be rooting for him. 

Growing up around southern Indiana and cheering for the local players who made the show, I never envisioned a day when Scott Rolen would be in the Hall of Fame and Don Mattingly would not.  

Very similar stats over their respective careers:

Rolen - .281 Avg, 2077 Hits, 316, HR, 1287 RBI, ROY, 7x All Star, 8x Golden Glove, Silver Slugger, WS Champ in 17 seasons.

Mattingly - .307 Avg, 2153 Hits, 222 HR, 1099 RBI, 6x All Star, 9x Golden Glove, 3x Silver Slugger, MVP in 14 seasons.   

How can a guy nicknamed Donny Baseball not get in the hall?
