I think they are trying to win a state championship, where is Highlands?

So Covington Catholic is dropping down to give themselves a better chance at a State Title? They didn't have much issues with winning them a few years ago in 5A. What has changed? Or did you mean something else?

My advice to players is do what you want to do. Do not let any coach tell you that you have to choose one sport over another. Trust me - if you are good enough to play, you will play. Above all else,

  • Right but you have to get back to being pretty good before you can jump into the best arena.

  • Just saw on Twitter Benke with another offer, nice job big guy!

I am just speculating but I think any school serious about winning a state championship is foolish if they move up in class.

Something has changed, yes. Their enrollment has reduced by 20% compared to 5 years ago.

Shocking to see the enrollment is down. What is driving that? It would be interesting to see what the percentage of kids that are enrolled don't participate in athletics as well. I assume that's pretty low.

Enrollment is down in private schools (grade schools and high schools both) across the state. It's mostly economically driven. New Cath is now one of the 5 smallest schools in 1A, and Holy Cross dropped from 2A to 1A in this latest realignment.

Cov Cath still has a significant number of students not participating in athletics, same as always. I currently have 3 nephews at Cov Cath, and only 1 of them is playing sports.

Agreed. Doesn't make sense. Unfortunately for CCH, I think you could argue that it might be harder, or at the very least, no different to win in 4A than 5A.

In terms of remaining schedule for HHS, I would expect to see CCH, Campbell Co., Lex Cath, Ryle, and SK. I doubt the Birds make the trip back to BG for the bowl game but I could be wrong.

Hearing that the Lex Cath game would replace the Rafferty Bowl on the schedule. Now that their are 5 teams Highlands has to play in district that only leaves four more out of district games. I feel like they might take Campbell Co. off the schedule just because that was normally a game they used as a confidence builder but now looking at the district I don't see the need to have an out of district game against an opponent like that. That's just how I look at it. Maybe they add an out of state game (OH,IN, or even a farther state)

It doesn't help the RPI to play out of state competition. Playing quality opponents inside the state is the way to go.

5 district games (Cooper, Conner, BC, Dixie, Scott) and 5 non-district games (the ones I listed), right? 10 game schedule with a bye week sprinkled in there or the week before playoffs.

Hopefully not the week before playoffs. Always felt like that would maybe kill a vibe.

No...I just know that Highlands and Simon Kenton are a no go in 2023.

It makes sense if you are Simon Kenton, they got a win last year but don't figure to this year.
