Holmes Turmoil....again

Featured Replies

No violations as I see it. No one (single individual/player or situation) has been singled out.

Can someone name the players or is that a violation?

That would be a violation (from what I beleive).

Nobody said anything about criminal activity yet, therefore rule 9 has nothing to do with what has been said.

I was wondering the same thing earlier and was never answered so I decided that it probably would be a violation. I figured it would be ok to say who was going to miss some time but not why, but the safe bet would be to not mention any names.

Lets just say you will be safe not to disclose that.

What would be the big deal about stating which players would be unavailable. As soon as they play again it should be obvious anyway.

In other threads this week there have been indications that Austin will be carrying the team on his shoulders.

Lets just say you will be safe not to disclose that.

It sounds like to me that these boys need to forget about basketball for the rest of the season and learn how society works. We all talk about how this is going to hurt the team and how they will lose the games they don't play in, but isn't there something bigger here. What are they going to do when basketball isn't in their lives and when they graduate. If things don't change quickly they'll be behind bars.

i think part off the problem is the leadership at Holmes High Kids will make stupid decisions in life and on the court but its a reflection of how they are being taught...I think its time for some changes there with the coaching staff its long overdue for that....Tim Sullivan needs to have the varstiy job for the basketball team,,,many may argue that the coaches are not the ones that make these decisions but when your a coach you are also a friend, Mentor and a father and it is a coaches job to keep things under control and it seems to a problem and its time for a change,,,,Wheather its Tim sullivan or they go out side with Brad Carr....

I know these are kids we are talking about but drastic times calls for drastic measures. Harsher discipline is needed in some cases not just to straighten the guilty out but those around them and those who follow. Letting kids off easy time and time again will do no good. The AD at Holmes needs to get control over this program before it hits bottom. These kids and for that matter any kids at any school need to fear getting in to trouble alot more than they do. Holmes really needs to set an example of what they are not going to tolerate anymore. Letting the current varsity players and the ones to come ( JV, Freshman and Junior High ) know that these types of things will not happen if you want to be a student athlete at this school.

I'm guessing you have no idea of the situation. I go back and forth w/ this all of the time. If some of these kids don't have basketball they don't go to school. It's different at Holmes than any other school around here. I feel for the coaches and the administration. Part of me feels like 5 games is nothing, the rest of me feels what will these kids do if they don't have structure somehwere? It's a fine line. A good friend of mine that went there years back said when most teams games get over the kids go out to eat or go home w/ family. Some of these kids go see if there family is alive. It's just totally different. I'm fine w/ the suspension w/ the exception of 1 player. At some point there are only so many chances a kid can get.
