I had a chance to talk with Tom Duffy at the State Championship games a few month ago and if you like taking shots at people, you need to take a few at him. Didn't have to many good things to say about the Bluebirds.

That's interesting.

The feeling is mutual.:irked:

Dudley's record speaks for itself. Approaching 300 wins and two rings. Bell County was an also ran before he got there. They play a tough schedule every year. He is one of the all time greats in Kentucky. Like him or not his way of doing things works.

I agree with this, M'boro and Pinevile had the strong programs before Hilton came to Bell, he laid the groundwork for success at Bell and has done well to maintain it. IMO he is the backbone of Bell football and a very good coach.

No jealousy here, his name is thrown around in every job, he has went out and interviewed at several jobs since at Bell Co. This has brought him some heat from people around the state, and probably makes some of the parents a little resentful when he does get beat on the field.

Coach Hilton has got to think of whats best for himself and his family. So I dont think people can blame him for considering leaving. It would be hard not to look into situations with as many schools as there is that call and try to get him to be their coach. I still maintain there is a certain amount of jealousy displayed by MOST, not all the people who get on here and criticize him.

Honestly, I'd be more worried if Tom had said good things about the Bluebirds (and I'm one of the few Highlands folks that feels Tom is one of the best X's and O's high school football coaches ever). Unfortunately, his "disadvantages" more than overwhelmed his positives. I doubt you would have seen many tears shed by Highlands folks when Tom left. Tom was not good for Highlands or its athletic programs (and if you believe that Highlands supporters are fixated with winning state champioships, that should really tell you something). Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I have no insight into the 6's and 7's matter or any problems that Dudley may be having in the program, but I do think the Dudley is a fantastic football coach based on the product he has put on the field. But, as with Duffy, sometimes there's a lot more to the situation then just the on field product.

I'd say allright now that they are in different ends of the state.

It would be my guess he is talking about Ed Whitker the Bell basketball coach not the former Corbin football coach, just a guess though.

:thumb: Coach Hilton is at basketball games all the time supporting the team and Coach Whitaker is at football games doing the same. I however dont believe they are fishing buddies.

I believe the 6s and 7s are referring to the number of seniors Bell had this year and the projected number they will have next year. I think the point he was trying to make is that winning the "big" games in November will continue to be very difficult if students who should be playing football continue to sit at home instead of coming out in July!
