Ben Jackson is a nice player, hopefully he will play well this year...I heard Phillips was no longer playing anyone know if this is true?

Who'll be the Best teams in the District/Region that Clay Co will face this season, and who do you guys think will be the toughest game for Clay this season?

 

Who'll get the carries for Clay Co. when the decide to keep the ball on the ground?

 

Are the Kids who had injuries Nolan, Ben Jackson, Nate Dezarn, Charlie rawlings, Earl Phillips all beack and ready to go come fall 2007?

 

I think the top three teams in the district will be Clay, Whitley Co. and Letcher Central. I'd say Whitley will be the toughest team for Clay to deal with. A young Whitley team lost seven or eight games last year but the losses were close games that could have gone either way against tough competition.

 

A number of Tigers could get the nod to carry the ball this season. D. Collins, K. Marcum, K. Reid, E. Nolan, B. Jackson, R. Couch, N. Reid, C. Nicholson, T. Gilbert, CJ Miller and a few more that I'm forgetting at the moment.

 

All the players you mentioned are back, although I'm not sure about Phillips. If Earl is back, throw him in the mix to carry it too.

Ben told me himself that he would be playing football and basketball for the Tigers. I did see him getting some workouts in at the complex a few weeks ago...I haven't heard a thing on Phillips...I hope Earl gets back on the team.

By no means am I a racist individual. I was merely commenting on the remarks of kycat I believe that these statistics would back up my comment about better opportunities for whites in baseball. As for the discussion about being slow, and 6 foot…I really don’t think it matters what race you are, if you are this type of person you are more than likely not going to play after high school. So everything aside if you are in high school and wanting to choose a sport why not choose the one that is the most fun and if that is football then good if that is basketball then good, but if you are looking to further your career and go to the next level at something I say baseball is your sport. There are 119 D-IA football schools with 85 scholarships each:sleep: Do the math..... That's 10,115 scholarships:sssh: I've tried to find how many NCAA baseball scholarships are out there but it just not posted, but I would think that the 10,000 + football offers in D-I is way more than all 3 divisions in baseball. I'm not a gambler, but it would seem that football would be the better bet.

 

Kids should play any sport that they want to play in High School PERIOD. But to say you have better odds with the color your of skin is stupid and to be honest ignorant.

 

The main goal for any coach or supporter of a high school athletics should be to give their kids the best opportunity to reach "THEIR" goals.

knowing of coach stepp days in Berea does he still handle the defense and offense? He use to to do a lot of 4-4 and 5-2 and bone and flex-bone? Is it true he has went away from his option game as well? I am new to the web-site but old to the game.

From what I have been told there are two new assistants. William Blair, who played at Rockcastle and Coach Napier's son, Evan, who played at Clay Co. They will mainly work with Coach Napier, the old one, who is the def. co-ord. Coach G will coach the D-line. Clay could be much improved defensively from what I hear. Coach Bradshaw is no longer coaching.

My bad. Older is what I meant. I heard that both new guys are doing a good job.

The majority of those football scholarships are taken up by 350 lbs. linemen. The slow 6 foot white boy's options are limited in football as much as in basketball. I agree baseball is the sport for these kids if they want a future at the next level. The major leagues are filled with 6 foot white guys. The majority of the players are white. What other sport can you say that about?

what will be the greatest strength other than coach stepps creative, incredible offense that he creates, any special team extroidinaires or defense of guys to look out for? it baffles me about his defense though, he seemed to have solid team in Berea, what is the difficulty in Manchester?

I've not perused the FB forum in some time, and if you were to tell me this morning that I would get a forecast of Clay Co. FB and a demographic breakdown of the three major sports in the same place, I'd have looked at you like you had an eye in the center of your head. And that's what makes BGP great.
