2007 Clay County

what will be the greatest strength other than coach stepps creative, incredible offense that he creates, any special team extroidinaires or defense of guys to look out for? it baffles me about his defense though, he seemed to have solid team in Berea, what is the difficulty in Manchester?
Had a good defense 3 yrs. ago. I don't think he played Bell and Rock at Berea. Clay has had a super off. the last 3 years but have struggled against Bell and Rock. The defense always seems to get the blame but if you check the scores against those guys, the offense didn't do anything either. A passing off. will put a young def. into some bad situations.

From what I hear, their def. will be much better this year; they lost almost no one. Defense wins championships. Ask SkinPig.:thumb:

What a thread!

I've not perused the FB forum in some time, and if you were to tell me this morning that I would get a forecast of Clay Co. FB and a demographic breakdown of the three major sports in the same place, I'd have looked at you like you had an eye in the center of your head. And that's what makes BGP great.

Can I nominate this for the classic forum?

Perused. I,m impressed.

I had heard that Stepp sent a letter of interest to Paris about their job opening..

I would say that Stepp will stay right where he is...him and his family seems happy in Clay County

He may have Jimmy, but it won't happen...Not this year anyway.

So anyone know Clays Schedule and any new updates on the Tigers?

What will the playoff picture look like for Clay? Who will they play after district? Region? or even state semi's?

Clay takes Letcher County and Perry Central, two teams they've dominated recently, into their new district. Coach Steppes team should be all but guaranteed a playoff spot every year and and a reasonable bet to be district champ most years. Anytime a team can get away from Bell and Rockcastle their chances improve.

With the hiring of the new assistants is Coach Stepp realizing the importance of having a good defense? Also, how do the Clay countians feel about hiring somebody from the Rock? :sssh:

We don't care if he's from Mars if he helps our kids, I'm all for him.:dancingpa

who did they hire? I havent heard any Clay Co football news here latley

From what I have been told there are two new assistants. William Blair, who played at Rockcastle and Coach Napier's son, Evan, who played at Clay Co. They will mainly work with Coach Napier, the old one, who is the def. co-ord. Coach G will coach the D-line. Clay could be much improved defensively from what I hear. Coach Bradshaw is no longer coaching.
here you go supertrooper

Who is coach G and what will be the other guys jobs? Evan played linebacker at Eastern I know.

Coach Gilbert. Don't know their exact duties.

I saw Clay County at a track meet a couple of weeks ago. They have more fast kids than I ever remember at Clay. If those kids play football they will be hard to contain with that wide open offense.
