Actually I think his sarcasm was directed toward you and sb. You both used teams in your comments so there appears to be somewhat of a double standard here. His comments just seemed to Ruffle your feathers a little more than your comment got to KOTJ.

I have said from day 1 that Rose Hill woould contend THIS year. They have a very young team that, like Elliott County, is still very experienced from many, many summer AAU games together over a long period of time. I have watched most of the Rose Hill players in the summer and they can flat out play. The Class "A" is a real toss up and I am looking forward to seeing it.

After hearing about the youngsters last year and then seeing them get off to a good start this year, I thought they would contend.

 

You put them in different region with some real powers, they might be a year away. But the 16th region is as open as it has ever been, I would certaintly give the Hill a shot.

 

I believe counting Mayo's last year, we have had 5 different champions in five years in the 16th region.

It is not a threat, by any measure, to produce a team that will be playing on Saturday morning in the state tournament or, for that matter and depending on a lucky draw, past the first round. However, it still brings interest to the area because all think that his/her team is a "player" in the "drama".

Russell has the type of team to win a game or two just ask Mason County. Their coach and other coaches in attendance were very impressed. They play good enough defense to win if they get to Rupp.

I hope you are correct. As is usually the case with this region, it depends on a fortunate draw. Russell would have a much better chance of advancing than would any other region team. Of course, a draw of a "teens" region always helps. Draw 6, 7, 9, 10, or 11 and a couple more and you probably won't need motel rooms.

It seems that the gap has narrowed between the 16th and the other more powerful regions this year- at least compared to the last couple.

I'm not impressed by what Rowan County has accomplished this season in boy's basketball. A win is a win, but they have not clicked on all cylinders this season.

 

I am impressed by how hard the girl's play and I think they will be a tough out come tourney time.
