Paducah Tilghman (5-6) at Casey County (8-3)

1st round: PT 37-0 over Taylor County, Casey 40-0 over Webster County

PT averaged 26.3 pts during the regular season while allowing 19.4, Casey averaged 25.1 while allowing 29.1

Both teams can beat you by being balanced as evidenced by the season totals for each offense. Of the total yards gained for the season, PT was 51.7% pass and 48.3% run. Casey County was 56.05% pass and 43.94% run. They both have the ability to take whatever the opposing defense is willing to give.

Casey is led by do everything quarterback Ethan Willoughby, who not only had over 2000 yds and 26 passing td's during the regular season, he was also their leading rusher averaging 99.9 yds per game and had 15 rushing touchdowns. He has 5 receivers who had over 200+ yards during the season, he'll get it to whoever is open. The Casey defense has 2 defenders with over 100 tackles, which is phenomenal.

Jordauyn White continues to impress for Tilghman. Malachi Rider is now back and has made a few good runs, but make no mistake, this is Jordauyn's team to lead right now. He averaged 8.43 y.p.c during Malachi's absence and followed up with 12 carries for 104 yds and 2 more td's in round 1. Qb Jack James was efficient as well round 1 (16/24 236 yds 2td's). When PT can play well on the ground and through the air in the same game, they've been tough, it just hasn't happened nearly as much as it should.

It will be a long day for the Tornado as Casey County is roughly 4 hours away from Tilghman. I would assume with the time zone difference also factored in, PT will have to leave before lunch time on Friday.

PT's season schedule should help them in this game. They are banged up a bit but they've played much tougher games than Casey.

I would be surprised if Casey wins this game.

Casey Co has had a very special year, but I agree with the slow thinker…..it comes to an end against the Tornados.

This game may be too much for Casey County. I’d love to see them pull this one out but I think PT wins.

I would love to see the sons of Liberty pull the upset, but don’t think it will happen here.

Casey County’s first coach at the school was an assistant from Paducah Tilghman, Dan Hill.  1973 was the only season he would coach at Casey.

This might be some kind of inside joke but who are you referring to as a slow thinker.

There is not much that these two teams have in common other than Dan Hill and their offenses use a lot of the same formations and plays.  PT has won multiple state championships, and Casey has just won their first district title (big difference).  The only people that believe Casey County can win is probably the players for Casey County.  95% of the kids on that team have no idea of PT's history and success.  It may be a blessing and a curse that they don't.  The good thing for the Rebels is that they believe in theirselves and that may be their greatest weapon come Friday.  Because on paper, there is no way the Rebels should win this ballgame.  I know that they shouldn't, and probably won't, but I'll still hold out some hope that the stars will align and Casey will move on to play another round.

Keep that hope alive. Not many gave us a chance last year and ultimately ended up in a classic at Kroger Field. Trust me, Tilghman can't take anything for granted in this one. If we play well, we're pretty good, but we've also played some games that are absolute head scratchers. The consistency just hasn't been what we had hoped so far.

Dan Hill was a friend of my Dad. They coached together at Lafayette in the late 60's. 1973 was my Dad's last year at Boyle, and Dan would come by our house on Carrigan Drive often that summer and fall. They butt heads alot and would go back and forth, but my Dad tried to hire him at Mercer. I'm not sure Mercer County would have been ready for my Dad, Larry French, and Dan Hill.

My Dad's staff meeting's were always on Sunday night. At Mercer, those meetings were in the basement of our house. When Dan was the head coach at Washington Co., the week they would play Mercer, he showed up at our house for the meeting. He had assistant coach, Lee Glasscock, with him, who had played for my Dad at Boyle. Coach French knows more of those details because he was coaching with my Dad. It was 1975.

Larry French, John Buchanan, Dan Hill, Lee Glasscock, sitting in our basement. Watching the Washington County video. Sure my Dad was smoking a cigar. And they were all getting ready to play each other that week.

We had some characters in the house, that's for sure.

What Coach Stonebreaker has done at Casey County is a great story for KY HS Football. Very impressive. I have much admiration and respect for what they have done together.

Through the grapevine, I've been told by good sources that Tilghman is still Tilghman... which means they are a whole different level in November. I would not be surprised to see them make another run like last year and years past.

I don’t think Coach Hill enjoyed his time at Casey very much ?.  I’ve had multiple players tell me stories of how he would say, “I hate you, I hate every £€^* one of you” and then throw his clipboard in the air about 10-15 feet ?.  They laugh telling those stories now.

Stonebraker has done a fabulous job at Casey and has been able to do what no other coach has ever been able to do and that is win, and win fairly consistently.   He deserves all the praise for what he has done.  Casey has 55 kids on the roster this season which is the most they’ve ever had.

I have watched enough film on PT to know they are the best team Casey has faced this season and probably the best team since they played Corbin in 2018.

This is a big deal for Casey County.  They are coming off a great season so far.  I would love to see Casey win but no doubt it will be a tough challenge but apparently this whole season has been a tough challenge and they have responded in kind.

Any live streams of this game tonight?

PT is the Sybil of KY high school football....You never know what personality  you're going to get.
