I would have to agree he’s not our best threat offensively, but I do expect for Hergott to open up the playbook deeper into the playoffs. He will try more formations, more wrinkles, more trick plays. Always has happened that way. Last week BW used a formation that they haven’t used all season. O’Shea and Flaherty benefited from it. Expect Hergott to try the same for all his playmakers this post season.

Geez guys I was trying to be complimentary to your team. 

1) Unless he can’t catch at all, I’m pretty sure an ACC recruit that runs a legit sub 4.6 is going to be your best option to throw the ball to for a 2A NKY team. When you are a significantly better athlete than who you are going against, it doesn’t matter how good of a route runner you are or how well you get off press. Go win with your athleticism and don’t ask him to be a gimmick player on only jet sweeps and bubble screens. I fail to see how someone that athletic isn’t a downfield threat at the high school level. 

2) Yes the highlights matter since it showcases the natural ability of the player. Speed, explosiveness, arm strength for QBs, etc. If the down to down consistency isn’t there for a 15/16 year old QB, ask him to do less or point him in the right direction and let his talent take over when he has to think less. 

Regardless of stars, the receiver is the 2nd leading target so far this season.  He has a lot of potential, and he is still learning the position.

I also think the play book will get opened up as the Tigers face stiffer competition deeper in the playoffs.

A ton of horses still in this stable. No reason this offense shouldn’t produce a ton of points despite the Notable injuries. Too much talent not to bring home third straight IMO.

And just some friendly advice, Be very very careful how you speak of this QB situation unless you watch film with the coaching staff.  No comments are welcome. Very, very sensitive topic in the Fort. ?

Hayden 58/87 67%; 879 yards; 176 yards per game; 8 TD; 1 INT; 14 yards rushing and 1 TD 

Harney 45/69 65%; 598 yards; 120 yards per game; 7 TD; 2 INT; 35 yards rushing and 0 TD

Very nice to have two excellent options. Those stats combined would put Beechwood QB's at about #6 or 7 in 2A. Not bad for a sophomore and a freshman.

Don’t disagree with ya. Numbers are numbers, and Definitely two great QB’s and from what I hear kids in general. But when considering the schedules/opponents, Harney’s numbers just jump out to me. A freshmen to go against those teams with no real prep heading into season, tells ya the potential there. But I’m just a nobody who knows nothing. ?

There probably isn’t a better #2 QB in NKY and perhaps the state. Numbers can tell a lot but being somebody who hasn’t missed a game, I will give my opinion for what it’s worth (which is a little more than nothing). Harney is clearly the better runner. He makes smart decisions, and tries to let play develop. Hayden is the far better passer. He zips the ball around. Forces more passes due to his arm, but when you have the athletes you do, you’re going to try that every once in a while. Hayden still needs time to develop as he’s only a sophomore. I would see Harney being used in the future if his arm strength matches Hayden’s but for right now Hayden gets the nod because of the need to pass the ball. No discredit to Harney either as he is a great kid, and will be a star for the tigers for years to come. He did fantastic the first half of the season he was in at QB1. Right now I’m not sure they care who is QB as long as they are on Kroger field the first week of December.

Both QBs are fine young men and each will get plenty of snaps in the next few rounds of the playoffs. Agree that team competition has dropped off in the 2nd half, but to give full context Hayden hasn’t played 5 full games (more like 3 1/2) due to the way the Tigers have handled business. Harney has played more than 5 games (but the most recent games being with a running clock for most of the time). All that really does NOT matter much. What matters is the team - and Beechwood is loaded with talent and the future is bright. Here’s to a healthy and successful run at the the state title!

What an embarrassment of riches for Beechwood. Two great young QBs  and a 4 star DB recruit that also plays WR who "Beechwood has multiple receivers better than him on offense." A machine.

Don't take these posts to represent the views of everyone. There aren't multiple WR better than him. But ... statistically it is debatable whether he is Beechwood's best WR.

Hope to see you deep in the playoffs LS. Miss seeing some of the faces we no longer see due to graduation. The semis and state always bring back the old faces though.

Haha hey, I’m just trying to give an unbiased observation. Cash is a good nky freshman QB…but I think there is currently a big gap in ability with Hayden.

I’m always lurking around. Been to a few games, commenting on what I saw. Listened to most on Tigers on the Air. To be blunt, My fear in the 3peat is that with all this throwing, the clock may haunt the Tigers. Every incompletion brings a stopped clock. Games are stretched. Pound the rock, run the clock down, sprinkle in the pass, keep the Defense fresh. Time of possession May not matter against the recent 5 game stretch of competition,  but against a Mayfield, LCA, others, it very well could tip the scales. Just my two cents. But I still haven’t been invited to review film so my opinion is not valid. ??
