Paducah Tilghman (3-3) at Henry County (5-2)

Tilghman comes into the is game fresh off a 43-10 victory over previously unbeaten Trigg County. With Malachi Rider out at running back, Jordauyn White really stepped up, especially in the 3rd quarter and ended up with 13 carries for 166 yards and 4 td's.

For some background on Henry County, they are ranked 4th out of 48 5A teams in Tennessee and are fresh off a top 5 victory over Springfield, who are also a top 5 team in 5A. Henry County's only losses are to the 4th and 8th ranked teams in TN 6A, Brentwood and Beech. Tennessee has 50 6A teams. Brentwood has a 28.4 rating, equivalent to Male (28.5) in Kentucky. Beech is a 34.1, equivalent to Dupont Manual in Kentucky. Henry County lost those games by 5 and 2 points.

With Union County slated up after this one, it would be nice to get in the win column for the Tornado, but I'm having a hard time seeing it happen. I watched Henry County's last game against Springfield and these guys are extremely solid on the lines and have plenty of skill players who can make plays.

Calpreps has Henry County winning 28-14. I feel that may be a little generous. While I always hope for the best, it's gonna take a little help for Big Blue in this one.

PT could very well end up with a losing regular season record in back to back years. Their schedule has been challenging to say the least.

  • Thanks for the rundown on Henry County (TN).  Based on what you provided I agree with you that Tilghman keeping it within 14 is generous.  With that said, let's go Tornado!

You can do it!!!

I've got several scenarios in my head that I'm hoping may come to pass. I'm driving down there with the intent that it will be a pleasant trip home. It will be very tough, but it is possible.

Gonna be a challenge for PT to come back with a win here. Henry County looks legit. Being competitive and returning home with no further injuries seems like a reasonable goal. The timing of this game could be a blessing or a curse with Union County looming next week. The Braves get a week off to rest up and do some more in depth scouting while Tilghman slugs it out with a really good, bigger school.

I have a hard time believing PT can remain close in this game as HC appears to be better than South Warren and Henderson Co, but hey that’s why they play the games good luck.

PT has been hit/miss so far.  I do think that their defense is coming together at the right time.  I hope the offense doesn't give up on the run game as I have seen this season.

Henry County has athletes all over the field so they will match PT in that regard.  I do believe that the trenches will be in favor of the Patriots.  Their new turf field is impressive and the atmosphere on Friday nights is one of the best in TN.

I think it will be close... the Patriots are dealing with several injuries. I hope PT has enough in the tank to pull it off!

FYI: this is what is being said on the other side of the state line:

It sounds like they're as impressed with PT as we are with Henry County. If they're as beat up as they say, and Tilghman can replicate the defensive effort from the Mayfield and Trigg games, maybe a Tornado win isn't far fetched.

Henry County's quarterback has an offer from UK and they've got an offensive lineman committed to Arkansas over a few other SEC schools, including Georgia.

Tempted to go to this since Mayfield ain't playin this week, but afraid it may not be that great a game.  Then again thought Tilghman would lose it last year, and I was wrong.  Henry County will be ticked, and want revenge.  Anyone know if Malachi Rider will still be out.

Or the other 2 starters that went out in the Henderson game?

I had heard 3 to 6 weeks on Rider so I know he will be out this week. I keep hearing that he will be back for playoffs, and I am not sure if he will try to make it back before then - it sounds too soon for the Union County game so then he might as well wait until playoffs after that I believe.

I believe the injured LB was back for the Trigg game, and I do not know anything on the injured OL.

Adams (LB) and Fox (OL) were both back for the Trigg game. Rider being out does hurt, but Jordauyn White got some valuable snaps and had himself a 4 td game against Trigg. He gained confidence as the game moved on.

Rider is a good strong back, no doubt about that.  White, to me, has been more decisive when he touches the ball.  Watched him vs Mayfield and Trigg and I like the young man! Strong, quick, and gets down hill. Yes, the Tornado will miss Rider but they will be okay on the ground.
