I wasnt stating that Elliott should be number two, all I was saying was I thought after two good games this week, they should have moved up to at least the 4 spot, JMO.

 

 

I cant really disagree with that, I hear what you're sayin. Elliot did have two nice wins in the last week. I just dont see any reason at this point to move them above Ashland or Boyd because they beat East Carter ( a 5-7 team who was ranked behind Elliot in last weeks poll) and Rowan ( a 8-7 team who was also ranked behind Elliot in last weeks poll). Both wins are nice, Especially beating Rowan by 15, I just dont see either wins as being "statement wins" or "upsets".

No not at all.

I just think if Hicks is not reinstated one coach should be named instead of alternating game by game.

I think he was meaning the alternating of games needs to end if Hicks is not reinstated.

Homecourt advantage will gave alot to do with games in January as usual. While Rose Hill is a hard place to play, Ashland probably has one of the rowdiest student sections in the region and it will always be a tough place to get a victory at. I know several of the Covcath fans were impressed with the environment at Ashland.

T-Fan, even though Ashland fans are supportive, they are not one of the rowdiest student sections, they are no way compared to Greenup County or even Boyd County. I have not even seen some of the smaller schools toward the bottom of the polls, but I think Ashland, Russell and Rowan fans are GREAT but not as "rowdy" as the first two schools listed.

Well, Ashland did lose a game this week. Yes, it was to a very good team but nonetheless they did lose.

Like I said in last weeks cubster poll, I think NOBODY should be ranked #1 (shooter don't take offense) what I should have worded more wisely is that the top 4 or 5 teams can be Ranked #1 on any given night. So, I will leave that #1 slot open. My top 6 (actually 5) would look like this.

1. NOBODY

2. Russell-struggling at the line TOO much to win every game in crunch time

3. Boyd- Big Win (again) in the 16th, and are very tough to beat any night

4. Rose Hill- Still waiting to see how they compete against the top of Region teams

5. Elliott- Too unpredictable but very impressive when they are in sync

6. Ashland- Jersey carries much weight, good team, and tough to beat but they keep losing (to good teams)

 

Lastly, I think Fairview and Raceland can be moved up a spot or two.

I agree. Like I stated in another forum, Sutton is one of the up and coming young coaches that IMO is gona make someone a great head coach. Nothing against Smith, I just feel if he gets the job that someone will scarf up Coach Sutton. Greenup cant afford to take that chance. He is well beyond his years in knowledge of the game. You can tell by the adjustments made during games. Greenup's had teams If adjustments would have been made in the past could have went allot farther in the post season. Dont let him get away!!!

Yes, they did lose. I dont consider out of region losses to teams like Cov. Cath when I think of how our region should be ranked. Ashland lost the game but is a better team because of that. Had they been beat by someone around here (anyone in our region) then on my list they would have dropped a number or two.

Greenup Co. and Elliott Co. are much better teams in the region than the popular opinion is. However, they both should be listed above Ashland, even though the region is competively deep.

Raceland has lost like 7 in a row or something, including their last loss to Lewis County. Why would they move up?

You are probably spot on. I have told several involved that this may not be our year but it sure is fun to be in the hunt. I too think Russell is the team to beat but in a current poll I wouldn't rank them #1 after this past week.

These polls are fun but the only team thats going to be happy is the team that walks out of MSU a winner.

Those few are Russell, Ashland, Boyd, Elliott, Rowan, and Rose Hill. With that said it is impossible for all of those schools to be in Morehead. The 64th will eliminate a good team.
