Elliott beat two top 10 teams pretty big this week but still stay at 5. I thought they might should have moved up a little. But other than that, good job as always.

Homecourt advantage will gave alot to do with games in January as usual. While Rose Hill is a hard place to play, Ashland probably has one of the rowdiest student sections in the region and it will always be a tough place to get a victory at. I know several of the Covcath fans were impressed with the environment at Ashland.

I hope Rose Hill keeps slipping in the poll because that means their winning.

Not to mention the top ranked team lost once and the game they won they were down by 16 in the third quarter to team that is ranked 13th. :confused:

Are you saying Boyd isnt playing good ball right now ? They beat Ashland earlier this year and they just took down the top team in the region. Yes, Elliot did beat Boyd earlier this season(nearly a month ago). But you may be forgetting the same Elliot team has a loss to Raceland (Cubster's # 13 team in the poll), and Russell (the number one team on Cubster's list who was just beaten by Boyd). Also, the three teams you are reffering to (Elliot, Ashland and Boyd), Elliot has the worst record against 16th region teams of the three. You simply cannot justify any rankings in our region at this point, everyone has had big wins and close losses. To be honest I dont know how someone could say "well, Boyd beat Russell who is the number one team in the region, Russell beat us, but we beat Boyd a month ago, so my team deserves the number two spot". I believe cubsters rankings are week to week. Both Ashland and Elliot may very well be deserving of the number two spot, but Boyd had the big win this weekend, thats why they are at number two. Its likely to be completely different next week. For what its worth, I remember the first few polls having Russell at number 1 untill someone proved otherwise. Boyd did prove otherwise, Ashland and Elliot may prove otherwise but they havent yet.Elliot had their chance and didnt take care of business and Ashland has a chance to prove themselves very soon. If were going to rank these teams based on a full season to date, I'll take Rose Hill at the one spot, they have the best overall record and are perfect in the region.

The 16th region poll kind of reminds me of college rankings when dealing with the "Elliot should be number two" argument. Yes, you beat boyd, a team that I think at the time was ranked a couple spots higher than Elliot. Thats great. But at the end of the day its the Raceland loss that kills you.

Probably because Elliott Co. has lost to Raceland who has 9 loses & East Carter who has 7 loses, and Ashland is to good to lose a home game to anybody within this region on their home floor after they were beaten by that team.

Its a weekly poll. Lets look at what the three teams in question did this week:

 

Elliot:Elliot defeated Rowan 78 - 63. An impressive win against Rowan, a team that in last weeks poll was ranked 6th, one spot behind Elliot.

 

Ashland:The Tomcats were defeated by Cov Cath, no shame in that, Ashland played hard as always, Cov Cath is a great team. The next night, Ashland defeated Fairview 66-50. Another nice win for the Tomcats against a team who in the New Year's poll was ranked 11th, 8 spots behind Ashland.

 

Boyd:In Boyd last game they had an impressive win against Russell. A team who was ranked number 1 not only in last weeks poll, but in every poll cubster has put out this year.

 

From these three teams, who I might add I believe are darn near even, who had the most impressive win ? I may be a homer because I do support Boyd, but I believe the award goes to Boyd. Boyd beating Russell is much more impressive in my opinion than Elliot beating Rowan or Ashland beating Fairview.

 

Let me also add this, we are debating who the number two team is of these three. I dont think any of them are. I think its still Rose Hill or possibly Russell. The three mentioned are very close and competitive. Like I stated in earlier posts, the poll is based upon what happened that week. Its very likely to change next week.

They dont really have one yet, they are still undefeated in our region. No one else is at this time.

I wasnt stating that Elliott should be number two, all I was saying was I thought after two good games this week, they should have moved up to at least the 4 spot, JMO.

I stated that wrong, any win is a quality one. Rose Hill just hasnt had the chance to get a "team defining" win against one of the top 4 or 5 teams in our region.:thumb:

I give Cubster props for even attempting a poll for the 16th at this point in the year. I see a 5 team tie for first place, no team in the top 5 stands out above the rest. Russell, Boyd, Rose Hill, Ashland and Elliot are all within 5 points of each other. If Russell shoots better from the line and doesnt have some issues with players during the 5th/3rd tournament they could easily be 14-0 at this point. I see a lot of teams splitting this year (Russell / Ashland, Russell / Boyd, Ashland / Boyd, Russell /Elliot.) Im still not convinced that Rose Hill isnt the best in the region. It just seems as if they havent played any solid local teams yet, and before everyone goes crazy, thats not a scheduling shot, Rose Hill has a very tough schedule. The Rose Hill / Ashland matchup on Jan. 23rd should tell us a lot about how good Rose Hill possibly is. The entire month of January will tell a lot about the 16th. Some great matchups. Rose Hill vs. Ashland, Ashland vs. Boyd, Ashland vs, Russell, Elliot vs. Greenup. Like I stated earlier, any team in our region could make it to Rupp. Districts and Region are going to be a lot of fun to watch this year.

My thoughts on top 4. Someone needs to bring "milhouse" up to speed..BC is playing good ball right now...... You must be from EC to make a post like that....Nothing wrong with supporting your school but reality must set in soon.
