Glad to see we're in the 8th since we would only be the 7th best team in the 9th. lol

 Exactly what I was thinking. Us 9th Regioners play the best, most high scoring basketball around

I'm a St. Henry guy, but I'll be the first to tell you they have to fix a few things. They are far from the 2nd best team in the region even if they did beat 3 of the top teams in the 9th.

From what I've seen, this is my top ten as of how teams are playing right now. Not what they have done in the early part of the season.

1. CovCath-#1 team in the district, #1 in the Region, #8 in the state.

2. Holmes-Getting it back together, has something to prove, Austin Hill

3. NCC-Zack Keirnan and Michael Lipscomb + Good Defensively

4. St. Henry-9 Sr. who contribute, Dave Faust, have confidence from big wins

5. Boone Co.-Young team that has no fear, solid shooters, great backcourt

6. Holy Cross-2 of the top shooters w/ Ryan and Sorrell, Good Defensively

7. Ryle-Improve every game, have size in Nelson and Maley, beat BC & StHry

8. Dixie-Very good defensively, Very well coached, Big Man in MACE

9. Highlands-have nothing to lose, waiting on Simpson & McGraw, Schlarman!

10. Conner-JIM HICKS, he does it every year, Adam Crews is underrated, DEF!

Anyone think Holmes has a bigger advantage come region time considering it's at their place?

Yes, they have lost only once this season at home to Holy Cross during suspension period of players and without DJ. They lead them by 13 with five to go and the young dogs and Austin could not hang on. Any time you play at home it's got to be an advantage.

Until the finals...yes. If CCH and Holmes meet in the final it'd be fairly close to 50 / 50 (if not even moreso CCH) so that advantage would be negated. But sure, in general, it always has to be a little bit of an edge being on a floor you're so familiar with.

Holmes very rarely loses on their home floor. Which is why I feel come region time when they have gotten back in to the swing of things, nobody outside of CCH will be able to stop them, but to be honest, I don't even think CCH is going to be able to stop them. Let's not forget the last time these two met on Holmes home floor with the full squad, Holmes did beat them and even without DJ for most of the game.

You're probably right. And the entire region is banking (and hoping) that the enlarged statement never happens. And to be honest, for more than a strech of a few weeks, it hasn't happened since Alexie Brown's departure. But you are right, if it is ever going to happen it will happen during their senior year, right now. Who knows? We just get to sit back and watch.

Duran Arrez and Austin all took the loss to Dixie last year pretty hard. I doubt very seriously they're going to let the same thing happen 2 years in a row. Duran is the leader out there that they've been needing this whole season which is goiing to take a lot of pressure off of Hill's shoulders.

But as you said I guess we just have to sit back and find out what happens. But if Holmes is playing in the region title game on their home floor I'm banking on them no matter who they're against.

I want to see Holmes and CovCath in the finals. That would be a fun game.

Holmes-Covcath is the best possible 9th region title game IMO. Both teams have tremendous respect for one another which adds even more hype when those two take the court agianst eachother.

You know how the 9th region goes, Holmes and CovCath will wind up on the same side of the bracket, giving a chance for the team that comes out from the other bracket.

That would be impossible. The #1 and #2 seed are always on the opposite side of the bracket. The only possible way for them to meet would be in the semi's but even that is highly unlikely.

And that right there, is the reason, that I can't wait until The Bank of Kentucky Arena at NKU opens... No more emptying the gym between games, no more parking problems, no more saunas, or who gets the home side of the stands or locker room, no more home court advantage, just a first class arena to play in, that is a truly neutral site, to hold a great tourney in....

Oh btw CovCath and Holmes can only meet in the finals of the Region, as the winner and loser of the same district, can only meet each other again in the Championship game....
