9th Region Top 10

Featured Replies

They may be a good team. But in the past 2 years, HC hasn't played within 15 points of Holmes. You must beat the man to be the man.

so holy cross must beat cov. cath? because right now they are the man.

Anyone outside of Holmes and CovCath care to share their mind?

1. St Henry - for now.

2. Cov Cath - with a Spirit...

3. Holy Cross - legit

4. Boone County - for now

5. Dixie - steadily improving, high potential

6. Holmes - under-achieving, potential to unravel

7. Highlands

8. NCC

9. Conner

10. Ryle

Not so much a knock on top teams but I think that even they will have a tough time cmpeting with top teams in the state.

CovCath beat #6 Doss and was up at halftime (and tied with 2 minutes to go int he 4th) with #2 Male, and lost by 2 to Cincinnati St. X (of course, not KY team, but still solid). This is all with players missing from their team due to injury; so I think it is safe to say that CovCath can compete with anyone.

Holy Cross has beaten Holmes once in the past six meetings, and that was when Holmes was without Lexie Brown in the line up. Don't get me wrong..HC is a good team. But still #3 in the 35th district. You have to earn respect. IF they beat Holmes or CCH, once agian, I'll be the first to congratulate them and give them credit where it's due. But right now, you're hyping them up a little too much because of one or two W's.

With or without Jefferson, there's no way Holmes is #6 in nky even right now.

But to be honest, I like where you said 'potential to unravel" because until they get Jefferson inserted back in the lineup, we won't know just how good they really are.

My top 10:

1. CovCath

2. Holmes

3. Holy Cross

4. Boone County

5. St. Henry

6. Dixie

7-10 is a toss up

1. Holmes- Still the most talented and most feared team by far.

2. CovCath- Always a tough out in the region.

3. Holy Cross- Very tough schedule and beat Boone co. pretty well.

4. St. Henry- Playing the best right now but still have alot of work to do.

5. Boone Co- Playing great but got beat bad by HC.

6. Dixie- Easy district and blowout win vs. Highlands

7. Conner- A talented team that can break loose.

8. NewCath- All depends on how Kiernan is doing at season's end.

9. .....

10. ........

Up to 6 or 7 teams could have these spots.

10.

St. Henry has to be the new #1. They have beaten both Holmes and CovCath. It doesn't matter who played or who didnt play.

1. St. Henry

2. Holy Cross

3. CovCath

4. Holmes

5. Simon Kenton

6. Dixie

7. Boone Co

8. Highlands

9. NewCath

I don't see Holy Cross above CCH or HHS, Dixie over Boone, and SK isn't in the region at all. And if they were they would be number 1. But you are entitled to your opinion.

If you think Holy Cross and St Henry are going to be the two teams playing for the 9th region tournament championship, you're in for a rude awakening.

Just remember this...by the time districts start in March, both Holmes and Covcath will have been playing at full strength for over a month and have all of the kinks worked out that have plagued them in their early losses

Sorry I am old school. Take SK out. I still think St. Henry has to be #1 right now.

I don't remember saying Holy Cross and St. Henry are going to play for the regional title. I am saying St. Henry has to be ranked #1 right now. Holy Cross is improving each week and I'm quite sure neither Holmes or CovCath want that district draw. HC can beat either one of them. I would say Holmes has the best chance when Duran gets back but.......St. Henry handled them pretty good. Should be an interesting February.

Holy Cross will beat Holmes this Friday and if they can pull the minor upset the following week at CCH they won't have to worry about either one of them again until the Regional finals. St Henry has a bunch of seniors I wouldn't count them out in the post season.

My top 5 right now would be:

1. St Henry...big wins

2. HC...just a hunch

3. CCH...b/c I was told by someone outside of both programs that HC wins

4. Boone

5. take your pick, but Holmes will be a tough out at the end of they year IF they can get it together.

Almost consensus top 5 teams Boone and St. Henry lose to Scott and Ryle, respectively.

Indication of the weakness of the 9th or a sign of parity starting to appear?

I think both, plus Boone is young, which can lead to inconsistency.
