January 5, 200719 yr The Raiders have a 15-49 record in the last 4 seasons. Worst in the NFL over that span.
January 5, 200719 yr The next coach for the Raiders could be Rob Ryan (Raiders defensive coordinator)
January 5, 200719 yr The next coach for the Raiders could be Rob Ryan (Raiders defensive coordinator) The Raiders are in such bad shape right now I don't think it would be a good idea to hire in house. However, I could be wrong being that the Raider D actually wasn't that bad this year, the players like him, and he could be one of the very few people in the world who would actually want this job and work for Al "the jumpsuit" Davis. Who knows, but the only thing for sure is its not going to be Art Shell. Who knows he may even get another crack at it in another ten years. The way it looks they will probably still be bad by then.

I agree, I don't think it would be good for them to hire in house either. Go get somebody away from the Raider's organization, but then again, who would want the job in the first place....
January 5, 200719 yr The Raiders need to clean house and hire all new coaches to try to rebuild that team. they was one of my favorites and now they are at the bottom of the NFL its sad.
January 6, 200719 yr Al Davis has been with the Raiders organization since 1963, where he won Coach of the year. The Raiders have had 14 different coaches since 1960. They have called 6 different stadiums there home. 18 hall of famers, 4 Pro bowl MVP's & 3 NFL MVP's. Player's who have been on Oakland's roster as QB since 1960 Daryle Lamonica Kenny Stabler Tom Flores Dan Pastorini Ron Jaworski Marc Wilson Jim Plunkett Jay Schroeder Jeff Hosteller Rich Gannon George Blanda Aaron Brooks Kerry Collins Andrew Walter Pat Barnes Steve Beuerlein Cotton Davidson Scott Dreisbach Hunter Enis Vince Evans Tom Flores Chon Gallegos Jeff George Jerry Golsteyn Jeff Graham Charley Green Kyle Grossart Rusty Hilger Don Heinrich Billy Joe Hobert Donald Hollas Bobby Hoying David Humm Russell Jensen Rob Johnson David Klinger Daryle Lamonica Paul Larson Larry Lawrence Todd Marinovich Tee Martin Rick Mirer Alfred Montez Nick Papas Babe Parilli Rodney Peete M.C. January 8, 200719 yr I just find it hard to believe that a proven Coach would want to come to Oakland. Al Davis has made his personality known and its not real liked. Oakland needs to take the same attitide in a coach as they need to take in a Quarterback - Young and unproven. They are in a situation now that they are going to have to take a risk on both accounts. Had my hope on Petrino. I knew I didnt like the Flacons, Yoter
January 8, 200719 yr I know the Raiders are in a big mess but they didnt give Art enough time IMO. One year isn't enough time for any coach...but in the case of Art Shell, it seems pretty obvious that he isn't a very good NFL coach. I think it was a terrible hire and they're cutting their losses and trying to correct that error ASAP. I'm surprised that he isn't coming back, but I don't fault the move at all.
January 8, 200719 yr Jim Mora Jr. Mark it down. He would be closer to the University of Washington in Oakland than in Atlanta. He could boat up to Husky Stadium on Saturday and then ease back down for the NFL game on Sunday.
January 8, 200719 yr This has to be the most unattractive job out there. At least with Arizona, they have a new stadium and some offensive weapons.

The Art Shell scenerio makes me wonder, especially since he is wanting to stay in the organization, that this move as him as head coach may have been a temporary thing from the beginning.
