Just because Lewis Co. played one game against a good team means nothing; all I am saying is that Ashlands schedule is just as tough if not tougher than anyone in the region's! I never said that they won any of those games did I? Noone in this Region has beat a Top 15 team PERIOD!!!

If the concern is turning people away then always have it at Boyd. Lets assume for a miniute that Ashland is the host and 4000 people want to attend.

I don't know about 4,000 but if 5,000 were to attend the concession stand will need 5 loaves and few small fishes. From the economic viewpoint, supply and demand would say that the ticket prices should go up. To carry this thought further, a gym that say would hold 1500 would charge a price that would roughly be twice that of a gym that would hold 3000. If the price of the tickets were all of a sudden $10-$15 the demand would drop and the seats would be empty. It all comes back to value and what the consumer feels is a fair price. You see RickyP it a lot more complicated than just who has the biggest. If that were true some may not be married.

To the tourney format why would you guys want to see the 64th at Rose Hill or Fairview. That would keep many fans from seeing great games. Why not have it at the bigger facilities?

 

If we adopt your argument, the district should always be played at Boyd County so that we can have "no fan left behind". The seating argument cannot be used to justify having the tournament at Ashland.

Could you explain the slick job to me once again? Is that the one where the rules established by the KHSAA were actually followed by the member schools of the 64th district?

There is no rule established by the KHSAA. There is a recommendation. A recommendation is not a rule. The final choice is made by the individual teams in a district. If you know the facts, you know how it was handled. One school stated that the attendence matter was a "mandate from KHSAA' which wasn't true. The others took the bait which was not wise. One school was slick, two were less than wise, and one was along for the ride. That is all in the past. I am suggesting that the two schools who acted unwisely obtain a little wisdom before one or both of them are slicked on the seeding issue. Two to two votes avoid seeding. They need to keep it that way even though one of them may be seen as a top seed for a few years. They must think longterm although, in the past, they haven't shown an ability to do so.

That is kind of like Pirates of the Carribean. There not rules just guidelines. If this is the case, why doesn't someone claim parlay (sp?)?

I guess I had my expectations to high. The bottomline is this, no matter what the average attendance totals are over the next few years, Rose Hill and Fairview will never hold the tournament in their gyms yet Ashland and Boyd will because of the way the form was filled out. In other words the average attendance could be 3,000 and Ashland's 1800 seat gym could still hold the tournament.

 

Are you saying that incorrect information was accidentally put on the form, that the form was worded poorly (asking for irrelevant information), or that someone intentionally lied when filling out the form?

 

From that, I would ask:

A) Who filled out the form?

B) Was there no oversight by the other member schools when the form was completed?

C) If the form itself was poorly structured, was any feedback given to the KHSAA, so that they can revise the process for selecting sites?

Personally, I don't disagree with you, regarding the seeding issue. If I were Fairview or Rose Hill, I would vote for the blind draw because, over time, it will serve them better than seeding.

 

As to the issue of the tournament site, please see my post asking for information about the completion of the form.

 

Also, it is my understanding that during that meeting, a phone call was placed to Louis Stout of the KHSAA, and questions about the interpretation were asked directly of him. If I am mistaken on this point, please correct me.
