Correction, CCH did not beat N. Oldham by 38, they actually beat Oldham County by 28.  Ryan Davidson is Reed Shepherds cousin on his mothers side.  Mom and dad have both been down this road before.  Pretty sure all these kids are from Laurel County.

Yes, you’re right, meant to type OC, just came out wrong - and as far as 83 minus 55 being 38……it was my understanding there would be no math.

100%. CovCath played a high low game with Starks up top and Rylee down low.  I thought NL should have doubled Rylee and let Starks have the jumper.

Ryan Davidson can certainly have his college paid for if he so chooses.  He’s a solid player.

Ipsato is good   Better than the two Ruthsatz brothers that preceded him IMO.

what a quality kid Shepherd is   Plays calm, doesn’t show too much emotion, sacrifices his game for the team.  He’s not SEC ready atm but is certainly a guy you want on your team.

Shepard can play right now in the SEC or any other conference in the nation.

Oh, I don't know about that statement, but he will be ready by the time he gets there.

What makes you think he isn’t ready now?

Youth, with diet and weight room he will be much stronger next year.  NL played a pretty good schedule this year, I'm sure it will be tougher next year.  With another year of experience he will be much more prepared for the competition at the next level.  The kid is good, but he's not superhuman.

Why do you feel he is ready now?

He's a great player, but as a junior he simply just doesn't have the maturity yet to be playing top notch D1 basketball. He got most of his 18 points late, but the Colonels played great 'D'on him preventing him from getting any good looks, and if a high school team can shut him down then surely any team in the SEC would have zero trouble shutting him down at this point in his career. Even when he's a freshman playing his first year of college ball he'll likely need a lot of adjustments and a learning curve in playing high profile D1 ball. I watched him the other night and really don't see him developing as a top player for the Wildcats or playing their style. I really don't see him playing on that high level of a D1 team, but no way, and no question, as a junior is he ready for all of that now.

He is basically playing vs five other high school players each night, ball handling and passing excellent, court savvy and level head second to none and best shooter in the state, surrounded with others that could take the pressure off him that high school kids can’t do, he could play right now, and he also jumps out of the gym.

I will agree to disagree.

At least we are keeping expectations for this young man in perspective.

I'd say be really happy if he can be in the rotation at UK in two years.  That certainly isn't a foregone conclusion.

We shall see, maybe I’m giving him to much credit but I’ve seen him play a few times the last couple years and my expectations are very, very high for him.

Certainly not disputing your expectations, I just believe you're rushing them.

I don't foresee him playing PG at UK like he is doing now.  I think he will play 2.  If CJ Fredrick were healthy today and Shepard was also on the team I don't think Fredrick would lose many minutes to him.  That's just my opinion.  In 2 years I'm sure that will change.

Nick Ruthsatz told me personally that Ipsaro was going to be better than he ever was.
