With so much up in the air I can see why someone would be hesitant to apply for either job (this one of Christian Co) but I feel more for the players, especially the seniors, of each team. Knowing they won't be apart of the consolidation and wanting a chance to compete their final year.

WKYFootball nailed it. What makes anyone want to go for a job where they're guaranteed to have to compete against another candidate to keep the job in a year? Hoptown and Christian Co are both in a crap position making lame duck hires.

I don't think they'll get a good coach with head coach experience for this job, or for the Christian Co job. Only chance I see either of these two jobs having any kind of qualified, experienced head coach get hired is if that head coach is looking at retiring.

Christian County is in a really bad spot. At least the Hopkinsville job you can make a small run and win some games this coming season. Christian County is the exact opposite. 
 

 

This job has been open 8 weeks now 

is this normal for an open job to go un filled this long?  
I’ve heard they made several offers to “Big Fish” who all turned it down.  
Them conducted a few interviews , with little fish I assume. 
So do they simply not have guys who are “qualified for the job” in their opinions?  
Possibly going to reopen the job? 
just seams like an unusually long process to me? 
 

Waiting on this guy to make up his mind!

Agreed this is a very long time for a job that has a shelf life of 10 months. I’ve also heard that they are considering opening the position back up. Not really sure what is going on in Hopkinsville/Christian County right now. 

Word here at this CCHS/HHS basketball game is that they’re going to hire a coach to oversee both programs for 2-3 years before consolidation. 
 

Meaning that both the CCHS and HHS jobs will just be guys holding the spot for a bit until it happens. So these jobs aren’t going to attract much attention now. I feel bad for the kids as it seems the focus will be towards moving to the consolidated team rather than focusing on winning games the next 2-3 years.

I’m hearing there Could be an answer coming shortly with a veteran coach taking over the helm.

9 weeks & counting on this job being open?  A littie birdie in Westen Ky told me that a few dominoes should be falling this week?  Should be an interesting week both on here & in Hopkinsville! 

Clark is the man it seems. He was secretly meeting in town. He had some influential people that were big on him due to friendships. There was a lot of access and control given to some last time he was there and they wanted that back.

They were hoping to hire a coach to oversee both programs from what I was told and the coaches at each school would come on as coordinators at the consolidated school. Weird move for Clark unless he has a job ready somewhere else in 2023.

Clark is the guy who will take over the new school. It’s not even up for debate.

A guy that was on his way out in McCracken as they were likely to let him go soon enough with his poor records.

A great guy, but not all are cut out for 5A and 6A football. He’s been at Hopkinsville High School and McCracken County for 10+ years, 2 areas with plenty of talent, so you can’t really say that he just needs more talent to do better. I think he needs to be at a place like Murray, Trigg, Caldwell, etc. He’d do well in that type of environment.

People close to the situation know the search has been going on. This is the hire and it’s not a bad hire based on the situation. He’s familiar with the area and can relate to the kids. He took SW down the wire his last year at Hoptown but with that being said at the new school if you’re not in at least in semi’s consistently then I give any coach 3 years max until they look in another direction.
