OC had a solid running game last week with Young and Sheppard both over 130 yards.  The defense made adjustments and shut out Eastern the second half.  Can MC contain Young and if they do can The sophomore Sheppard put the running game on his back.  
 

MC will have a lot to try to stop with the receiving core of OC.  I really wish I had all the stats.  When @ColonelMike post he will have all the stats for us.  Sophomore Justin Ruffin, Seniors Jacob Davis and Wes Alexander along with Junior Jax Elkins all have big play potential and have multiple touchdowns.  Defensively OC is very aggressive and will give up points.

That is a good breakdown.  MC offensively has a sophomore back with 10 + tds and averaging about 9 ypc.  Their WR #7 has an EKU offer and is a freak athlete and their junior LT has a UK and WVU offer.  New QB came out for the team in week 2 and is now the starter, real good athlete but struggles on short passes, quite possibly the fastest kid on the team. 

Defense has been their strength.  Their DL gave Pikeville fits, which is one of the biggest and toughest OL’s in the state, even for a 1A team.  Big injury to their sophomore LB Hardge, who is an absolute stud.  Out with a torn ACL.  4 seniors out of 5 in their secondary which has been a strength all year.  

They have lots of questions on offense which will eventually lead to their demise.

You guys are likely losing twice again to Station this year.

Looking forward to this game .... two teams that are still looking for a signature victory this year that will keep anyone from questioning their impressive winning credentials.

What we do know is that Oldham is showing they can run the ball, keeping the Colonels from being forced to rely only on the passing of Sam Young, one of the most efficient / accurate QBs in the state, and who is blessed with a deep, reliable receiving corps.

We also know that Madison Central's 9 point loss to undefeated LCA may be eyebrow-raising; only Boyle County (lost to LCA by 7) played LCA closer....    and the two point win over 1A power Pikeville last week was a win over a solid team.

I would like to see this one.  I think MC edges them.  I like MC's defense.  But it's really a toss up.

Me too. This is a strong candidate for game of the night. OC quarterback Sam Young made an appearance in this week's Mr. Football Watchlist (shameless plug here). He'll have his hands full with a really good Madison Central defense, and conversely, the Indians will have their hands full with Young.

This should be an awesome game.   Madison Central's defense has been very stingy this year, allowing barely 1,000 yards total offense in six games.    Win over Pikeville last week was solid - even if Pikeville is 1A.

Sam Young is playing like you expect a three year starting QB, defending district offensive player of the year, and a senior - to play.    Last week's INT vs. Eastern was his first of the year, and he's been a beast throwing the ball and running it.   

Some keys:

- MC must at least contain Young, and keep him from beating them with his legs.   He had 159 yards rushing against Eastern and three rushing scores last week.

- MC must take advantage of any drives into Oldham territory.   The Indians have piled up the points this year, but have not piled up the yards.

- Oldham needs to force the Indians to prove they can win through the air.    The Indians have completed less than 50% of their passes this year, and are most effective when the running game is successful.    

- Colonels have to limit the big plays on offense.   Oldham's defense is aggressive, and some big plays will be there.   But if MC can repeatedly earn the "chunk" plays, it could be along night for the Colonels.

- Both teams have terrific scoring offenses - Oldham's is #3 in 6A behind Bullitt East and Daviess County - but my hunch is that MC might want to keep the final score lower than Oldham wants it.   Just a hunch.
