For example, Graves RPI is second in 5A. Our District opponents are super low, besides Owensboro. I'm guessing we can only go down even if we win out.

That makes total sense! I get it now lol. It's not calculated ahead of time.

The series between the Tigers and Rocks for at least the past 20 years, seems decidedly one-sided. Does playing the out of state elite schools give them that edge? Because the history of coaching and players that I am aware of from St. X isn't that far off from Trinity's, right?

As you can see in my question to @Tigerpride94 I did include "the past 20 years",  I did not say since the beginning of high school football in Louisville. 

Having said that, for the past 20 years, the last game of St. X's football season usually is vs. Trinity in the playoffs, and the result is a loss.  I DONT KNOW if there is a difference in facilities, administration,  endowments, etc. I have always been under the assumption that the two schools are private school 1a, and 1b.

That is why I ask the question to someone who has ties in that community.  Is the scheduling the reason Trinity appears to be the dominant private school in Louisville?

I'm sure scheduling those tough teams helps. I assume St. X has found enough KY teams that will play them. I think Trinity has had to go out of state because hard to find KY teams to play them. Some of the difference was Beatty was a great coach and also attracting players to the program. I do think under Coach Wallace have started to do better attracting more kids.

I agree.  Trinity was so dominate with so much talent that many schools turned on them and refused to play them so they had to go outside KY.

I saw in preseason Coach Cobb wants to play more KY schools but not sure how much luck he will have. With St. X improving they may run into same issue going forward.

I doubt there are many KY schools that will want to play Trinity, it is almost certainly a loss.

2008 seems to be when this trend started with multiple out of state games, and then 2011 they had 4-5 out of state games. 

But even though a team may lose to them, why would a AD want to remove Trinity from a home and away series and you know that may well be your biggest gate of the season?

At the end of the day, I don't think it was teams not scheduling Trinity, I think Trinity realized how lucrative the out of state games were. Program exposure, financially and game experience wise.

But @Tigerpride94 again, I hope you don't think I was trolling or anything. But I honestly wondered while everyone is debating RPI, RPI basically doesn't even apply to Trinity, and maybe more of the top KY teams SHOULD schedule these out of state games irregardless of RPI. 

Especially if the regular season in KY is basically all glorified scrimmages since everyone is going to make the playoffs anyway (except for a couple of random districts)

St. X/Trinity frosh playing today and I assume the gate is better than most places varsity games.

To provide a different perspective.  Why would any public school schedule Trinity?

You reference Program exposure, financially and game experience wise.  Is any public school ever going to get to an exposure level of the Big 3 (T, X, H)?  (I know Male is a public school, but they are the exception)  I don't think so.  Financially it sounds good, but scheduling known rivals should be their top goal, not getting a running clock put on them by T in the 2nd Quarter.  Experience wise - I guess?  But can't you do that with someone else and not get beat by 50?

Just don't see where any County School benefits from playing them from Marshall County to McCracken County to Boyle County to Fulton County.

Only benefit would be if home game from gate. Eastern & Ballard unluckiest teams in the state as far as district placement.

I would argue 1 or 2 more schools that would say they have the unluckiest district placement ? in the Louisville area.  But to your point, there is a reason when this whole realignment took place 3 years ago, Oldham Co. lobbied to be put in the district with Station, GRC & Madison Central, even though Trinity, Eastern and Ballard were closer geographically.
