All that talent PT has showed in the youth/middle school system has not panned out in HS yet.   I'll believe it when I see it....  how many years is it now 16?  I know it's been a while.  Plus, Mayfield is getting a heck of a QB next year!

I see a lot of folks picking McCracken. I am leaning towards my Mustangs. However, Tilghman football always seems to play one of its best games against McCracken. Even more so than against Mayfield. There, I said it! Tilghman fans are loath to admit it. They are known to say that Tilghman v. McCracken "isn't even a rivalry"! I'm not buying that. There are years where PT beats McCracken, yet the Mustangs take down Mayfield. PT/McCracken has been much more competitive of late than PT/Mayfield. I never count out the Tornado against MCHS in football.

Seems like McCracken has started slow every season only to get rolling as the season goes along. I wish this game were played towards the middle of the schedule. 

People that say it isn't a rivalry are out of their mind. The cross-town part of it no matter what town you live in adds credence to the rivalry even if it isn't competitive. 

I'll tell you from experience, having a son who graduated in 2020 and who was in all 4 games and having been in the locker room and talking to these guys daily, they want to beat McCracken more than Mayfield. 

I know some may not believe it, but I promise you that this game is at the top of the list. Mayfield will never be replaced and they get absolutely hyped for it, but there is a respect Mayfield has earned from our guys that seems to have actually toned some of the game week craziness down compared to what it used to be. 

It's hard to say one is second, so in terms of rivalry now, I'd say I'd put McCracken as 1A and Mayfield as 1B.

Absolutely! I'm 100% with you.  I love the Thanksgiving season and that time of year, add that game in if the season were that long and this guy would be a really happy man. 

 

McCracken County is a football haven over the years - Heath, Lone Oak, Tilghman and now the consolidated McCracken.  Great football.  One of the best offenses I’ve seen was the Mustangs with Wheat, Hayes, Bradley.  Too bad injuries killed that year.  I’ve caught a couple games at Tilghman the last couple of years (Graves and Mayfield) and a couple at McCracken (Daviess and Apollo).  Too bad I’ll miss this rivalry to go see Owensboro vs St X.  I think both Paducah teams can have big seasons.

I have to ask, is Hughes the starting RB?  Will Bradley move permanently  to defense?  In the hudl highlights, Bradley would be an absolute terror off the edge.

Having the game so much later in the season would kill so much of the excitement and would really kill the crowd. This is always a sell out crowd.

Yeah. It definitely needs to be the first half of the schedule. I was just wishfully thinking about my own preferences in a perfect world.

A lot of the Tilghman fans I talked to this week would be happy with it only being 14. The Tornado are still super young and that unknown in the trenches is really putting doubt in minds around here. 

Obviously, we all want to be proven wrong, but that's where the game is. It's a must they give some time for plays to develop or it will be a long night. I'm hoping they rise to the challenge.
