Is Anthony Davis Worth The Money?

Simple question... Are the Lakers getting their value in AD, given he cannot stay healthy to save his life? Is his max contract “worth it?”

Depends. Them getting AD also got them a title a year ago. If he can stay healthy, they probably are going to win the title in that given year. Question as you just said though is if he can stay healthy. If he manages to stay healthy next year in the playoffs and they win the title. Then them getting him and the max contract was worth it IMO.

I've been on the record multiple times on how I would be reluctant to commit to Davis for any extended period due to his brittleness.

As a GM you would have to close your eyes and take the risk. When remotely right, he is more impactful on the defensive end than any other player in the NBA. He irks me at times on offense, but to put it simple, you can't turn away an all pro talent.

It's the exact same argument you can make for Embiid.

My thoughts are, no.

They got a ring in a shortened season in a "controlled" environment. I know they count it, but if that's the only season/ring he can stay healthy for, that's a big check to cut.

And he wasn’t fully healthy in the bubble.
But that was the most challenging title any team has ever captured, ending with a win over an injury-riddled #5 seeded Miami Heat squad. LeBron will tell you all about it. ?

Yes.  They already have one title from him.

A ring is a ring.  If it were that easy to get a ring then Barkley, Stockton, Malone, Ewing would all have rings.

Plus they played in the same controlled environment as everyone else.

Who was hurt on Miami’s team?

Their leading playoff scorer and starting PG, Dragic, tore his plantar in the second quarter of Game 1. He tried to play in Game 6 but could barely move. Bam hurt his shoulder/neck in the third quarter. Missed the next two games and wasn't the same in the final three games of the series.

Lakers still would have won, imo. They were too good in the bubble, especially on defense. But maybe it goes seven.
