Votto crushing the ball all year finally gets positive results with a HR in the bay - the first ever by a Reds player.

That's really surprising to me.

Votto has been hitting the ball very hard this year, maybe even the hardest out of all the Reds starters but its been consistently right at people.  The ball last night was a laser.

This showed up in one of those Facebook ads today.  If I wasn't so sure that the decal wouldn't fall off (or the shirt disintegrate on the first washing), I'd get one these.  Love it.

Now if I can just get my Little League team playing like their namesake.....after an 11-day Spring Break layoff, my middle-school-aged kids laid an 11-1 egg on Opening Day last night.  ?

Meanwhile, the Big Boys are now on pace for 113 wins....   ?   (Gotta celebrate while I can...it may last, but I'm enjoying an early season run....)

Great to see the Reds' pitching staff get a shutout last night.   Pre-season concerns about the starting rotation and the bullpen have given ground to some early-season optimism based on their play so far...

I really like this bunch.   Not sure I have embraced an entire roster like this one since growing up with the Big Red Machine (can still recite the lineup)....

Only Reds player hitting the ball harder than Votto is Naquin.

Per Baseball Savant here is the 2021 exit velocity so far for Reds hitters.  This was before last nights game.

100.6 Winker
97.7 Naquin
93.2 Stephenson
91.9 Votto
91.6 Castellanos
90.2 Farmer
89.9 Senzel
89.7 Barnhart
88.4 Aquino
85.1 Moustakas
84.7 Suarez
84.6 India
Most balls hit with 95mph+ exit velocity
18 Naquin
15 Castellanos
13 Votto

Reds on ESPN tonight. I always enjoy hearing how the national broadcasters view the Reds.

Votto with his second HR of the year gets the Reds on top early. Reds lead 2-0. Opposite field shot for Votto.

The night after Votto does it, Moustakas becomes the second Reds player ever with a splash HR. His 2 run dinger puts the Reds up 4-0. Still batting in the first.

And Castillo struggling again in the cold. Giants get a two run HR to make it 4-2 before Castillo gets an out.

That was a beautiful bunt by the Giants player there in the 5th. I wish more players would bunt against the shift.

Great DP by the Reds to get out of it.
