Loyola Chicago 71 Illinois 58 (NCAA 2nd Round)

Featured Replies

Final what a game. I've seen high school teams in Kentucky look more athletic than they do. This is what makes the NCAA so much fun to watch.

The game also was never really that close most of the game. Illinois never led the entire game.

Loyola really gets after it defensively.  Really happy for them.

Also, scratch the Illinois coach off the Cal replacement list.

It wasn't.  I kept waiting for Illinois to make a big run.  Makes the Loyola win that much more impressive.

Solid, fundamental basketball.  There’s still a place for it in this day and age.

But not the Loyola one. Lol.

I really enjoyed watching a well coached, fundamentally sound team play and win. I love Krutwig! Great passer, just a solid player. Told my wife they did some things offensively I remember using as a coach in the 70s. Does IU throw a bunch of $$$s at Loyola's coach??

Would KY be able to hang 40 points on Loyola this season. I’m not sure.

They could do a lot worse.

Made the Illini look bad.

Yeah....if they sped them up.....like they should have all year. AAU players need to play AAU style.

I would gladly make that bet with you, that UK would score 40 or more. Easy money for me.

To me 3/4 of their team looks like guys you could go down the the local YMCA and get a good pickup game with. I enjoy watching them play. I'm to the point I would like to see the final 4 be: Ohio vs. Abilene Christian and Loyola Chicago vs. North Texas or Oral Roberts.

One wag said that Illinois got beat by a "40  year old, divorced, HVAC repairman with 3 kids" and another that Krutwig had  become her favorite "basketball player/Coen brothers character."
