March 20, 20215 yr I’ve said this for years, but the tournament is exciting for all the wrong reasons. To start, it’s an inverted pyramid of excitement, meaning the tournament gets less exciting the more it goes. We love it because of David slaying Goliath; well, that means you are removing a more quality team from the equation, and David normally gets backhanded the next round. Secondly, the general setup of games is weird. You take fickle 18-21 year old kids and put them in quarter filled arenas (this year less), at odd times of the day/week, put them in strange locations, one player gets two early fouls, and madness happens. Add in for this year the COVID factor. We don’t tell the Lakers they will be playing the Grizzlies at 12:15 pm EST in Hartford, Connecticut on a Thursday. I am not saying it doesn’t hook me in, but we love it because of the absurdity of it all, not because of high quality play.
