Newport 45 Newport Central Catholic 39 (36th District - Semi-Finals)

Featured Replies

Per scoreboard.

The Wildcats stunned the Thoroughbreds of Newport Central Catholic, and will now move on to face the Highlands Bluebirds in the 36th District Finals to be played Thursday night at 7:00 at Dayton.

Welcome to the 9th Region Tournament Newport Wildcats!!!

I've no details about this game, and can't wait to hear how it all went down.

Big turnaround from the early regular season game.

You're right about that. NewCath played Newport the first game of the season, and beat them quite handily 77-44.

This is one of the reasons I commented on the predictions everyone was making. The boys still have to play the game. Holy Cross beating Beechwood last night was another one. Great time of year and anything can and probably will.

Neither of these teams can beat Highlands. Congrats Newport on getting to play one more game.

Geez sour grapes.  Newport gets at least 2 more games since they are going to the regional tournament.

At least 2 more games.  They won't have to play Highlands again at regional.  Can they beat one of the other district winners?  I believe it was Coach Wenderoth who said that at tournament time you needed a good draw, a good call and a good bounce of the ball.

Not sour grapes toward Newport and yea forgot they qualified for tournament. Just a realistic opinion.

This Wildcat team did not spend any time on their game in the off season due to the pandemic. They are a year behind & their season shows that with their record. Come  onWildcats spend some time on your game in the off season. You are better than this season record. Hope help is on the way

You say they did not spend any time on their game in the off season due to the pandemic then chastise them for not having a good enough season.  They lost the bulk of their scoring and rebounding from last year's team.  Nobody got a summer program due to the pandemic.

Hope help is on the way??   Not sure what that is intended to mean.

I am with you on the last question and comment.  Curious to hear the answer to that one.
