I went to the Boone/Conner basketball game Friday night. I had not been inside Boone for a few years. I was very disappointed in the way they have revised history there and wiped away any history of the wrestling program there from their past. Many of us who helped create a very winning program at Boone would be very disappointed in the way someone in one or another administration has wiped away the fact had any wrestling program and a very successful program. What a shame!

I believe so and wrestling won many conference and regional titles.

Some of these schools don't realize how badly they messed up by killing their wrestling programs. Did the football program have anything to do with killing it or was it an administration decision?

I would go to the AD and school boards and everything else and complain until they but it back up.

It was the football coach who was also the Ad who killed the program. It wasn't nearly as good as his winter conditioning program....yeah right! The principal who just retired for a second time was heard to say that as long as she was the principal there would not be a wrestling program.

Always disappointing to hear this viewpoint from powers-that-be. No doubt I'm preaching to the choir on this board, but there's not another high school sport that allows for the individual's strength and skill to determine the outcome of the contest. Can't blame teammates, bad bounces, etc. etc. for a loss - just yourself.

 

One of the great disappointments (and there haven't been many) I had upon moving many years ago to Maysville was the lack of a wrestling program in any form. Have to drive to Cynthiana or Alexandria to find the closest high school programs.

For a 1981 Conner grad, the memories of Conner-Boone wrestling are still fresh. My boy Rob Clarkston always had a battle when he was up againt Boone.

I wrestled with Robbie at my frat house. Also Andy Mulcahey, two time state champ, Steven Emerson, Mike Palmer, Robbie Holman. Lots of good wrestlers. I can't believe they have stopped the program. I have been beaten up by some of the best.

We had great in school wrestling matches with Conner and Simon Kenton for years. Robbie was a great wrestler and an even better person. I miss him!
