It's that time of the year again where Tilghman and Mayfield meet up for the annual rivalry game in which Mayfield has dominated in the recent past.

14 years in a row to be exact. Tilghman's last win was an 18-15 victory in 2005. Since that time, Mayfield has outscored Tilghman by an average margin of 32.64 to 16.21. 

Mayfield leads the all-time series 50-46-10. Could this be the year Tilghman finally puts it all together and breaks this record streak in the series? 

Both teams had a massive loss of talent in their respective Senior classes last year and I believe both kind of expected the rebuilding process they are currently in. 

Both teams have a lot to improve on and may come down to which group of inexperienced players play best. They are very similiar this season. 

If Tilghman somehow finds a way to win, they would not only snap the 14 game streak, but this would also be win number 800 for the Tornado. A lot on the line and one to add to the history of the series should they pull it off.

I sure hope so. I mean it has to end at some point, right? This one has all the makings of being a really good one. 

Tickets for this game will be gone in a very short amount of time. 

I’m not going to believe Tilghman can beat mayfield till it happens.

I don't see a Tilghman team led by a Freshman qb and running back beating Mayfield.

Mayfield needs to play solid for 4 quarters to ensure a win.

Your likely right, it’s not a good chance, but one of the best chance’s Tilghman has had in a while. 

*Correction*

In my original post, I stated that if Tilghman were to win, it would not only break the streak, but also be win number 800. 

I took that from information provided on one of the school's social media accounts. The more I thought about it this week, I thought it may be incorrect and it was. 

If Tilghman pulls it out, it would be win number 798. They have since corrected the number as well at the school. 

Hard for me to go against Mayfield. Tilghman is going to have to prove it to me.

 

Just can't go against Mayfield at home in this one.

But I think Tilghman has a shot.  The last 5 games Mayfield has won anywhere from 18 to 33 points.  If Tilghman can come inside of 18 with a Freshman QB, I'd say that's good progress for next year in Paducah.

Mayfield intercepts Tilghman on the first possession of the game on a tipped pass. They take over at the Tilghman 37. 

Interception by Mayfield leads to a 7-0 score
