Guys, you all are going over board, yes he is a nice HS player. But a major D1 player, not even close.

He's a junior, right? Perhaps even more upside when he's a senior. Perhaps not major D1, but from what I've heard, NKU was looking at him.

So you don't consider the MVC, Horizon, Big East major college? I assume you mean Power 5. Just hope the young man finds the right fit, has a healthy career, and enjoys himself.

You might remember Tyler Sharpe was a preferred walk on at Louisville, came to Northern and has flourished. Never know what coaches see that we don't.

No I don't consider NKY as a major D1 Program.

With the exception of a few schools in the watered down Big East, I don't consider them major D1 programs.

Well that's fine. How many players have you watched in this area play in those watered down weak leagues?

Vinson is 6'5"?

Legit 6’3”

Not a cm taller...

I'm just saying the Big East is not the same conference as it was a few years ago. If I were a HS kid again I would have no problem going to most of those schools on a free ride. I'm just trying to say most of them are not your elite D1 basketball programs.

Why is it that every Highlands basketball thread turns into something that has nothing to do with the game?

How about Vinson’s huge first half that included three two handed dunks in less than 2 minutes of game time.

How about fact that Highlands has lost only game to date?

I could care less where Sam Vinson goes to play college basketball, but I am willing today that he will not be paying his way.

I love how this Highlands team responded after losing Brass for the season. He was a leader and did the little things. Love how Barth stepped in last night and has come up big in several games this season. This team can flat score. Reason they are the 2nd highest scoring team in the state. Will be interesting to see them play against a team with a legit center that can rebound though.

Highlands sounds like the part this year.

Just curious, what is holding him back? He has size, shooting ability, he's coachable, and has the stats. I think the only thing is he needs to get stronger. A great college program would do. In 3-5 years it will be scary how good he is.

Ok, he still has 1 year left, before we start making all these projections lets see where he is at this time next year. He certainly would not play for UK,UL,UC,X, or any other big program this year. The state has several players of his ability, will they all play at major D1 programs, totally not. Just consider some of the kids from NKY alone that were studs in HS who found out that the next level was a whole new ballgame. I have nothing against the kid, but lets be real, and yes he will get a free education at a D1 or D2 program.

What makes you so certain that he could not play for UC or Xavier? Or are you saying he couldn’t play for them if he graduated now?

That's exactly what I'm saying.
